Drink up, ladies. Turns out your vagina is in need of just as much water as the rest of your body.

Women's health expert Sherry A. Ross has some advice for keeping your V in tip-top shape. "A healthy vagina needs the same hygienic attention as any other part of the body, similar to the way we care for our face," Ross explains. So, does this mean wash regularly, exfoliate, and moisturize? Pretty much, yes! “The skin of the vagina is susceptible to dryness if not taken care of properly," she noted in an interview with Glamour.

It's fairly simple: If you're nice and hydrated, your vagina should be well-lubricated, and if not, you're likely to see some dryness down there, both inside and out. Of course, frequent dehydration can lead to some more serious issues, such as an exacerbated yeast infection. You can thank your pH balance for that. “Yeast and bacterial infections occur when there is a disruption of the normal pH balance caused by dehydrated skin in and around the inside of the vagina,” Ross says.

Keep chugging back the same recommended amount (eight 8 oz. glasses) and both you and your vagina should be good to go.
