President Obama announced plans to celebrate Hispanic musical heritage on Oct. 13 with a concert featuring top Latin artists. Sounds like it’s gonna be a major party, too. Mexican musician Sheila E. will lead the house band, and other expected guests include Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Jose Feliciano, Jimmy Smits, Pete Escovedo, George Lopez, Thalia, Los Lobos, Tito “El Bambino” and Aventura.

The event, touted as Fiesta Latina, will be taped for a PBS broadcast to air on Oct. 15. It will then air on Telemundo on Oct. 18 and on V-me on Dec. 25.

Back in June of this year the White House hosted a jazz session, as well as a country music affair in July. And the beat goes on…

Sounds great! Mark your calendars for the airing. The only thing isn't she of Mexican descent? Not Puerto Rican. Wikipedia lists that she is of Mexican, African American & Creole descent. Born in California.
