Why do YOU love being Latina?

As we gear up for our June/July double issue, aka our annual “Reasons To Love Being Latina” edition, we’d like to hear from you, our beloved readers! So, in your own words, break down the people, places, or things that make you happy, proud, or grateful to be a Latina. Don’t be shy—there’s a reason this is our most popular issue of the year, and that’s because there’s more than enough reasons to go around. Submit your answers by Monday, April 6, and we just might pick your answer to be featured in our June/July issue!

i love being latina because from our salsa down to our wondefrul language. our culture is beautiful. we are determined and hardworking . my mom jokes around calling me just a little white girl but i got my latin roots and i am pround of them . some of my family might deny it but i am a white, native american, and HISPANIC teen. this web site lets me fill included in a group along with my latina friends.i may not no all the spanish in the world or have the darkest hair and skin all latinas are muy intelligente y bonita. adios chicas :)

What I like about being latina is that we are people of great morals,integrity, and joy.fOR THE MOST PART WE ARE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER. I always admire how we ar not bitter people but that instead we ussually look ahead and remain strong through adversity as a people. I myself am an afro-latina that is becoming more accustumed to just being afrO-latina and not trying to be someone that i AM nOT SINCE WHAT i AM IS ALREADY PRECIOUS AND bEAUTIFUL. tHERES NOTHING LIKE IT. i WOULD NOT TRADE BEING lATINA FOR BEING ANYTHING ELSE. i lOVE BEING A LATINA WOMAN.aND i WILL CONTINUE TO STOCK TO MY LATINA MORALS THAT IS THE BEST THING TO DO.

Because WE ARE THE BEST WHOEVER DID IT!!..Latina/o is the definition of STRONG, INDEPENDENT, RESPECTFUL, INTELLIGENT, HARDWORKING, DILIGENT, CONSCIENTIOUS, LOVING, MAKE IT HAPPEN NO MATTER WHAT kind of people, to say the very LEAST. All in all, I couldn't see myself any other way other than a proud LATINA [Dominican/ Rican], nothing else to say. Thanks mami and papi for bringing me into this BEAUTIFUL race!!

I'm not Latina, but I do love being an American who's proud to be married to a Latino. And I appreciate the warmth and kindness that's been shown to me by his family since we first started dating 16 years ago! The pride in the comments posted here and the strength of the Latina women in my life makes me love Latinas that much more! Gracias to you all - just for being you!

I love being a Latina. What I love the most is the diversity I offer my children who are half Italian. They love Mama's Dominican cooking (almost as much as mine!!) They love to dance to the music. Especially fast moving Ripaos. They are learning the language with much enthusiasm. As for my husband he loves the Latina spice!!! Even my curly hair (which I struggle to straighten) I love to come from a culture with a rich history that I look foward to passing on to my children. I will do my best to instill in them pride of their latin culture and to embrace it in this diverse wordl we live in.

I love everything about being a Latina. But one of the main things that I love about our culture is that NO ONE PARTIES LIKE WE DO!!! We have the food and drinks, la familia, amigos tambien, y todo. Musica, with much dancing. We can dance Reggaeton to Salsa to Batchata, to Hip-hop and we do it with sexy flow and style.

I love being Latina! Latina music, foods, language, dances and rich culture in it's entirety is who I am it runs through my blood making me who I am. Every frequent spice, sweet musical melody, sensual sway of the hips in our dances and the melodious sound to our language makes me proud to be who I am. Last but not least the strong as steel family ties, the pride and love that courses through us whether we always like each other or not doesn't matter because blood is thicker then water and families stay as one. I can go on and on in listing the reasons I love who and what I am the above are only a few.

There is nothing better then to be a Latina to enjoy the culture, style, food & music. We as Latinas have a lot of salsa & we can change our looks to the point where people are not sure where were from. I was born & raised in New York City, Da' Bronx, have moved out of state & returned home cause in this melting pot of NYC Latinas & Latinos are one hell of a people we know how to love life live it & enjoy it. Què viva las Latinas...........

I love being Latina! I was born latina, live latina and will die latina. Just think of the intellect that it takes for people to be able to think in two different languages! Even if we are not good at anything else, we can communicate in two different worlds. When someone comes to my place of work that doesn't speak english, I am quickly summoned to assist. None of my superiors can understand or help this person with their concerns. I can! It is always a pleasure for me to be able to help in these situations. I am 100% Puertoriquena and so very proud of it!

I LOVE being a Latina! I relish in the thought that we bring exotic flavor, not just from our food but also our looks. We come in so many different colors and shapes and it is so beautiful. I think one of the neatest things is that we are the only nationality that can look like every nationality! When I think of what it means to be Latina I think of strong, intelligent and beautiful women. I don't think anyone else loves like a Latina loves. Weither it be to our family and friends or a lover...
