Fidel Castro's sister, Agustina del Carmen Castro Ruz, passed away in Cuba on Sunday at the age of 78. The youngest sibling of Fidel and Raul passed away at a hospital in Havana following complications from a surgery to fix a fractured hip. Her sister, Juanita Castro, confirmed her death and said she'd been in poor health for over a year, according to Daily Mail.
Unlike her other siblings, Agustina kept a low profile and never worked for the Cuban government. Both brothers have run the country for over 60 years, while her sister is a vocal member of the Cuban-American activist community in South Florida. In November of 2016, Fidel Castro died at the age of 90 due to illness. Raul, who followed as president, will turn 86 in June.
Her cremated remains were taken to a family home in eastern Cuba, where eldest siblings Ramon and Angelita also rest.
