George Zimmerman's Wife Arrested for Lying to Court

Seminole County Sheriff's Office

George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin's shooter, is not the only person being implicated in this situation. Zimmerman's wife, 25-year-old Shellie Zimmerman, was charged on Tuesday for perjury, or lying to the court. Prosecutors say that she blatantly lied at Zimmerman's April bail hearing when she said that they had no assets, aware that her husband had a Paypal account set up and had collected more than $100,000 from donations.

Shellie Zimmerman, a nursing student who has been married to George Zimmerman for close to five years, said at her husband's April 20 hearing that they had no significant assets that could be used to post bail. During this time, Shellie also made eight transfers from her husband's account to her account totaling more than $74,000. Many of these transfers were under the $10,000 threshold needed for the credit union to alert the IRS.

George Zimmerman had been ordered back to jail on June 1, after the judge announced he had misled the court about how much money he had to post bond. He will be there until his next bond hearing on June 29. Shellie had a $1,000 bail and was quickly released.

What do you think of this case so far? Does this make Zimmerman look more guilty, since he (and his wife) were caught in a lie? Share in the comments!
