What a tragedy. A California 12-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree murder in the killing of his 8-year-old sister.
According to NBC station KCRA in Sacramento, Leila Fowler was found with multiple knife wounds on April 27 in her family’s Valley Springs home.
Leila’s brother was the only one at the house with her, and first told investigators that an intruder had broken into the family home. The boy’s initial account launched a massive manhunt to find the suspect in the killing. CBS also reports that, according to the boy, the intruder was a tall man with gray hair.
“The very core of our life is shaken,” said Pastor Jeff Mitchell of Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church, addressing his congregation in reaction to the tragic murder.
Older brother Justin Fowler spoke to The Associated Press about the tragedy, describing his family as being "in a fog."
