While most 11-year-olds are worrying about getting good grades in school, one tween in Spain is preparing for motherhood. According to reports, the child, who was admitted to the hospital for stomach pains, gave birth to a baby boy.
The baby's father is said to be the 11-year-old's 14-year-old brother. The girl, who is a Bolivian immigrant, went into labor last Friday at the hospital in Murcia. Sources close to the case revealed that the brother was just 13 when his sister got pregnant. They also added that because of his young age the teenager will not face any criminal proceedings under Spanish law because he was below the age of criminal responsibility, which is 14.
According to Cadena Ser, neither the young girl or her parents were aware of the pregnancy,
"We have to wait now. An investigation is still ongoing and when everything has been clarified, we'll see what has happened and if we can help in some way," Regional Health authority boss Manuel Villegas said.
The new mom and the baby are "doing well."
