Thank you for joining me another week to read my blog, “RAQ-C’s world”, where I share with you all my tips on how to be a fabulous modern day Latina from the inside out. I like to touch on it all from relationships, hot topics, fashion, health, spirituality, self-confidence, career and anything in between.
Today I want to touch on leadership. Do you consider yourself a leader? Who are the five leaders you most admire and why? Do they remind you of you? They can be from business, social media, politics, technology, sports, or any field. Now, ask yourself why you admire them.
There are a few things that allow leaders to shine. First thing is they have a great sense of awareness. Especially awareness of who they are as an individual. So ask yourself what will you be in 2014: a leader or a follower?
These are 3 things that allow a leader to shine:
Continuous learning: Leaders never stop learning. They are open. They consistently want to learn new knowledge; they want to stay fresh and current. They understand that they are a work in progress. Life is the best school out there.
Honesty: I have always said that we live in a world where people recognize fakeness quickly. As a leader its good and important to be honest, to come from the heart. Inspiring people from the heart is where it’s at. Always be true to yourself so that you can be true to others and its real. Anything fake or not genuine will be quickly picked up on.
The Ability to Let Go: Something that can be very challenging to leaders, yet can truly catapult them to the next level. I speak from experience. When you have done things a certain way and it has worked for you, it can be hard to let go and get out of the way. But sometimes you have to. Inspire, then get out of the way. Leadership is about influence and guidance not control.
So you decide what you will be this coming year. Do you have what it takes to be a leader or are you ok standing on the sidelines? Some people are ok with that but if you feel you have what it takes to lead then do it and do it with all your heart.
Feel free to drop your comments or feedback below, I will check back in next week!
