Eva Longoria is extremely giddy about the 2011 National Council of La Raza (NCLR) ALMA Awards. And why wouldn’t she be? The Mexican American star of Desperate Housewives is not only co-hosting the awards ceremony this year, but she’s also a longtime executive producer for the show.

Latina.com has the exclusive scoop on what is going on with the Alma Awards this year and it’s not good news. The awards normally air every fall and honor the positive portrayals of Latinos in the entertainment field. But don’t hold your breath this year, because they are not being broadcast in 2010.
"Unfortunately, we’re not doing the [ALMA’s] this year," said Delia de la Vara, one of the producers of the show, and the Vice President of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR).

Want to watch performances by Shakira, Nelly Furtado, David Archuleta, Pitbull and Sean Kingston? Then be sure to watch the 14th annual ALMA Awards airing this Friday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC! Ana Ortiz, Selena Gomez and Roselyn Sanchez all showed up at the ALMA Awards with a romantic side-bun that softened their faces and showed off their swan-like necks. Latina.com asked Amy Winer, a Latina hairstylist from Epic Salon in Ventura, California (818-986-2034), for a step-by-step instructional on recreating this camera-ready up-do. “I’ve done this look a lot for special events and award shows,” says Winer, who recently styled the hair for a Baby Phat fashion show. “It’s really a simple up-do that anyone can easily do on herself.”

Dozens of Hollywood's biggest celebrities—Latino and otherwise—stepped out on the red carpet for the ALMA awards last night. Host/producer Eva Longoria Parker dazzled in an array of gowns, but her best accessory was definitely her husband Tony Parker.
