America Ferrera has signed on to star and executive produce a new film from Maya pictures entitled The Dry Land. Ferrera is set to star alongside Ryan O’Nan, Wilmer Valderrama, Jason Ritter and Melissa Leo of Frozen River fame, who was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award last year. The film will tell the story of a young GI who has just returned from the war in Iraq and finds it more difficult than he imagined to readjust.

Those fans of Ugly Betty who were worried that the show might not return for a fourth season can officially relax. EW reports that ABC has picked up the show for the 2009-2010 TV season. But first, new episodes of the current season are returning to Thursday nights on April 30.

The theme of her star studded bash, was “America the Beautiful” complete with a cake designed like a quarter (Get it? She’s a quarter of a century?) with her face on it.

Alexis Bledel is about to help ER—the long-running hit NBC drama that turned George Clooney into a bonafide hearththrob—sign off for good.
People reports that Bledel will play intern Dr. Julia Wise on the show's two-hour series finale, airing April 2 and marking the Mexican/Argentinean starlet's first TV acting gig since leaving Gilmore Girls in 2007. Most recently, Bledel co-starred with America Ferrera in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

Even TV stars are having money problems. América Ferrera owns two homes—one on the West Coast and one on the East—but the actress recently put her Hollywood Hills pad on the market for $1.5 million after Ugly Betty moved its set to New York City.
“She’s sad about it, but she doesn’t want to pay for two places,” says a source to Life & Style.
