After Disney announced the first Latina princess, the unveiling of Princess Sofia sparked a controversy due to her appearance: light skin, light brown hair and blue eyes. While some saw it as a positive move toward understanding Latinas as a diverse community, others saw it as creating a non-identifiable character and essentially "hiding" her Latin roots.
