Los Tigres del Norte, Juanes, Calle 13, Café Tacuba, Cypress Hill and Ozomatli are just some of the growing number of Latino musicians boycotting Arizona in protest of the state’s controversial immigration law (SB 1070). The new law goes into effect on July 31st of this year and requires police officers to stop anyone they suspect may be in the country illegally.

Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes took time off during his busy recording schedule this past Saturday to receive an award for his humanitarian work at the annual Fedex/St. Jude Angels & Stars Gala in Miami. The event was a benefit for the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a pediatric cancer research center.

Though we have a long-standing love affair with Colombian rockero Juanes, lately our hearts have been beating for another guitar-clutching singer/songwriter. His name is Gustavo Galindo and last week he turned the South by Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas into a veritable smooch-fest with his romantic ballads. Billboard.com immediately dubbed him an “idol-to-watch” after his performance on Wednesday night.

Emilio Estefan premiered the video for his Spanish version of "We are the World" entitled "Somos el Mundo" on El Show de Crisitina this week and the stars came out to support the effort in full force. From Juanes to Shakira to Pitbull, it was a veritable who's who in the world of Latin music.

Cuban born recording artist Cucu Diamantes (of Yerba Buena fame) was recently scheduled to perform at Union City High School in New Jersey, but the show was canceled after her performance at Juanes's controversial Paz Sin Fronteras concert in Havana, Cuba.
The New Jersey Board of Education apparently received complaints from some community members and subsequently decided to cancel the show. A statement released by the board said:

This morning Juanes posted a picture of the latest addition to his family on his Twitter account. Baby Dante was born to the proud papa and his lovely mother Karen Martinez on Saturday, Sept. 14, in Miami. Juanes and Martinez married back in 2004 and this is their third child together.
