A recent poll conducted by Gallup revealed that for the first time, a large portion of Americans are in favor of legalizing marijuana.
According to the poll, 58 percent of Americans feel marijuana should be legalized, in comparison to only 12 percent who were in favor of it in 1969 -- the year the question was first asked by Gallup.
In the 1970s, support for marijuana legalization grew to 28 percent. Fast forward to 2011, 50 percent of Americans were in favor.

According to the Huffington Post, legislators in Mexico City are planning to draft a bill that would decriminalize marijuana use in the city. Lawmakers are pushing to make it legal to carry up to 30 grams, or just over an ounce, of the drug.
