David Goldman and his son are at the center of a very high-profile 5 year long custody battle that may finally be coming to an end. A mother in Brooklyn, NY was recently arrested after her 11-month-old infant died when she left him, and three siblings, in the care of her 8-year-old son. Denise Gonzalez, 29, left her children alone with their (slightly) older brother so that she could go to Target with her 40-year-old boyfriend, Rafael Colon.
The 8-year-old was left to care for three other kids, ages 6, 3, and 2 as well as the baby, Major Gonzalez. When the parents returned, they found Major was having trouble breathing and had a bruise on his forehead. He died a short time later in the hospital.

If Latina-ness were measurable, I don't think I'd rank very high. Growing up I always felt a little too Americanized for my hard-core Cuban friends, and a little too Latina for my non-Latina friends. I never questioned my culture, but I had very distinct interests that seemed to contradict each other. Maduros and sushi. Marc Anthony and Duncan Sheik. Salsa dancing and meditation.

One of my favorite celeb mamis, Ali Landry, recently made a comment about her plans to vacation this summer. She and her hubby will be traveling and leaving their almost-2-year-old daughter with her abuelita. The statement was vague, but commenters to the article seemed really concerned about the possibility that they might be leaving her daughter for the entire summer.

Cameron Diaz is used to intrusive questions about her personal life. We can only imagine that it's as if all the world's paparazzi are like her entremetida aunt with the neverending cycle of questions, "When are you going to get married?" and "Don't you want to have children?"

A Brazilian 9 year-old, who was raped and impregnated by her 23-year-old stepfather, was given permission to abort the twins she was carrying, angering Catholic officials. Although abortion is illegal in Brazil, exceptions are made in cases where the mother's life is in danger or the fetus has no chance of survival.
"We don't know if she will develop the pregnancy up to the end because of the structure of her body. It is a big risk for her," Jose Severiano Cavalcanti, the doctor who confirmed her pregnancy, told the Diario de Pernambuco.
