Come fall, we will be able to see how Puerto Rico looked back in the 1950s—thanks to the new film The Rum Diary, which hits theatres October 28. Johnny Depp stars in the film, based on the semi-biographical book by late journalist/author Hunter S. Thompson, about a freelance journalist at a crossroads in his career who travels to the island in hopes of finding a secure niche for himself. Puerto Rican actor Amaury Nolasco costars alongside Depp in the highly anticipated film.

Hurricane Irene, which has already torn through the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, is reportedly now a threat to the United States. By this Thursday, the hurricane may become a Category 4 as it gets closer to the U.S. coast, posing a serious threat to the Carolinas, Florida and Georgia.
