By Kamren Curiel | 05/31/2013 - 11:52

YouTube comments are infamous for getting out-of-control and downright nasty, but when commentators get racist someone's got to pull the plug. That latest someone is Cheerios, who disabled comments on their YouTube ad featuring a biracial family after racist slurs started flying.

The Cheerios ad depicts a white mom, a black dad, and their daughter, a modern-day family some people just aren't ready to accept apparently.

Commentary: Latinas Are Either Saints or Whores, According to New Movie
By Irina Gonzalez | 05/05/2013 - 16:00

I’m one of those girls who’s a sucker for romantic comedies. Yes, I said it. I simply love any movie that takes a couple who just can’t seem to get their act together and ends with them finding their happily ever after.

I don’t care if the plot is kind of silly. I don’t care if the acting is awful. I don’t even necessarily care that the dialogue is dry and the chemistry isn’t ideal. I just want to see that love-conquers-all finale that always brightens my day and puts a smile on my single-girl-in-the-city face.

Georgia High School To Have Its First Racially Integrated Prom - Ever
By Samantha Leal | 04/04/2013 - 09:42

It is 2013, right? Sorry, we're just a little confused as news broke that students at Wilcox County High in Rochelle, Georgia, are trying to plan the first racially integrated prom in the school's history. Yes, you read that right. The high school, located about two hours outside of Atlanta, has white and black students learning in the same classroom, but have segregated proms and homecoming dances. Since the dances are privately organized, and not run by the school, this is totally legal (albeit, most people would agree, totally inappropriate and terrible).
