As a producer and composer, Julio Reyes Copello has worked with some of the most talented voices in the industry, including Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Paulina Rubio, Ricky Martin and Thalia. His job is to get singers to give everything they have in the studio. And apparently he’s very good at it. He was recently nominated for a Latin Grammy as Producer of the Year. We got a chance to talk to the Colombiano about his work and here’s what he had to say:

Yesterday, a Federal judge overturned the controversial Proposition 8 ban on same-sex marriage that defined marriage solely as a partnership between a man and woman. The ban was passed in California back in 2008. In ruling that the ban violated the civil rights of gay and lesbian couples, U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker wrote, "Proposition 8 both unconstitutionally burdens the exercise of the fundamental right to marry and creates an irrational classification on the basis of sexual orientation."
