Even though Kelis just gave birth amidst mad drama—including Nas showing up to the hospital drunk (!) while she was in labor for three long days pushing out the couple's only child together—the singer was most likely elated to hear that a Los Angeles judge ruled in her favor yesterday. Her soon-to-be ex-husband was told to pay the pop star approximately $40,000 a month in child support and alimony.

Singer Kelis has given birth to a bouncing baby boy named Knight Jones. The little man weighed in at 7.8 lbs. and was born at around 9 p.m. Wednesday evening in New York City.

A representative for Kelis, 29, told Usmagazine.com, "The beautiful baby boy and his mother are doing wonderful." This is the first baby for the "Milkshake" singer. The singer split with her estranged husband, rapper Nas, when she was seven months pregnant.

TMZ reports Kelis had to miss her scheduled court date to fight estranged husband Nas for child support and other expenses because she’s busy giving birth to the couple’s son.

If it's drama you're after, look no further than the divorce between hip hop legend Nas and pop chanteuse Kelis. Last we heard, Kelis was crying poverty and demanding that estranged hubby, Nas, pay spousal and child support as well as all legal expenses. Nas coldly declined, telling her to, “Pay her own damn way.”

In recently filed court papers Kelis claims she’s broke, saying, "I have run out of money," but then goes on to reveal that a princess-cut diamond tennis bracelet given to her by her soon-to-be ex-husband Nas is worth more than $190,000 and that she still has her nine carat diamond solitaire engagement ring. Call us crazy, but if you're sitting on $190,000 worth of anything, you are far from broke.
