Ana Ortiz on the End of 'Ugly Betty': "There May Be a Movie!"

Ana Ortiz is not done playing Hilda Suarez, ya’ll! When asked the beautiful actress for spoilers about Ugly Betty's April 14th finale, she responded: “I will say this: It’s open. There may be a movie!” Say what?! How awesome would that be?

Ana continued: “It’s something that we’ve been talking about and it’s something that America Ferrera would really love to do. That woman has so much determination that I can’t imagine anything she puts her mind to not getting done.”

Of course, there are currently no confirmed plans to bring Betty to the big screen, but what movie studio wouldn’t want to make a movie based on the award-winning show? You only have to look at the success of Sex and the City to know that shows with loyal fans (ala Betty) usually equal box office gold. And after shooting the series finale last week in New York City—and finding it difficult to part with a character she’s played and loved for four years—Ana says she’s all for the idea of playing Hilda again.

Ugly Betty has been the most important thing I’ve ever done, easily,” she said. “I was able to do more with one character than I can ever imagine doing again—Hilda was hilariously funny and emotionally deep…I really got to showcase what I could do with a character.” Ana confessed that before Betty, she had doubts that she could actually make it as a Hollywood actress. “For my life, the show has meant so much. I have an entirely new family. I have the financial security that I’ve never had before. [Laughs]. And I have confidence in myself: It helped me realize that acting is truly where I’m supposed to be and that I can do this.” If you’ve ever seen Ana act, then you know she had no reason to doubt her larger-than-life talento!

As for the April 14th series finale, Ana says Hilda gets what she deserves: “Hilda deserves some happiness and I think she finally finds it. That’s one thing about the finale that I can tease: “Everybody finds their glue, so to speak.”

Oh, and don’t expect Ana to stop seeing her on-screen sister and son just because the show is over. “I’m hanging out with Mark Indelicato on Tuesday and I’m seeing America on Friday. I’m still hanging out with all of these people. This is family for life!” she said.
