Update: After much anticipation, Lifetime has renewed Devious Maids for a second season! According to The Wrap, Lifetime executive vice president and general manager Rob Sharenow said on Tuesday that the series has received a renewal for 13 more episodes.
Looks like we might be seeing Devious Maids for a while longer on television.
The Lifetime show, which centers on a group of Latinas who work as maids for rich families in Beverly Hills, is in talks for a second season, NBC Latino reports. Devious Maids stars Judy Reyes, Roselyn Sanchez, Dania Ramirez, Edy Ganem and Ana Ortiz, and is reportedly the network’s fastest growing drama of all time.
According to Deadline, the series reached series highs across all key demographics in its sixth episode this past weekend.
It wasn’t long ago that the show created by Marc Cherry was heavily received by criticism for a perceived perpetuation of stereotypes about Latinas.
Executive producer Eva Longoria received fiery jabs for jumping on board with the drama series.
