Photographer/director Natalia Mantini and designer/web-developer Lizette Ayala founded Solace to address the lack of practical resources available for marginalized folks, particularly within the realms of mental health support, healing, and wellness. Solace is designed to be a digital friend, connecting marginalized folks to therapy, meditation, care, healers, podcasts, and now, workshops.

On Friday, August 13, Solace will host the first in their series of virtual workshops for BIPOC adults & youth centered around providing self protection tips & guidance. Mantini and Ayala have tapped Isabelle Khoo-Miller (they/them), 20, a Singaporean-Chinese and Mexican-Jewish queer educator who leads self-defense and assertiveness workshops for queer, trans, and femme Black, Indigenous, and POC. Originally from the Bay Area, Khoo-Miller also facilitates weekly mens accountability and healing circles. Afterwards, Latina will collaborate with Khoo-Miller and Solace to provide accessible tips across Latina’s digital platforms.
