LUAR is the reversed namesake label of Brooklyn-based designer Raul Lopez, former co-founder of Hood By Air. Of Dominican descent, Raul began to design at the age of 12 and growing up was inspired by the downtown New York scene. Raul wanted to share this energy with his friends who lived in the uptown Washington Heights neighborhoods, where they would frequent Dominican clubs and parties.
The philosophy of LUAR lies in the intersection of New York City and the Dominican Republic, promoting the constant curiosity of “tomorrow” or what’s up next, with no strict rules when designing and keeps it unique, neutral in color, and gender fluid. LUARhas been worn by the likes of Future, Dua Lipa, Kendrick Lamar, Solange Knowles, Tyga, Theophilus London, and more. In 2018, Raul was a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.
