In my career I’ve had the pleasure to cover many awards shows, but last night was my first time covering the ALMA Awards. I felt extremely proud to witness the great work done by fellow Latinos in the entertainment industry honored for their activism by The National Council of La Raza. Last night, accolades were bestowed upon director Robert Rodriguez, musician Carlos Santana, actor Wilmer Valderrama, actress Rosario Dawson, actor Tony Plana, and the casts of Showtime’s Dexter and the film Filly Brown.
Hosted by Mario Lopez and Eva Longoria, there were plenty of laughs to be had throughout the night, which was telecast live for the first time ever via MSNBC. Eva would disappear from the stage from time to time and then suddenly appear wearing a fabulous new vestido. Each one was more fabulous than the next, which had me wondering why she opted to wear the red Zuhair Murad gown for one of her turns on the red carpet?
