Selena Wins Billboard Latin Music Award 22 Years After Her Death

Selena Quintanilla might have left us but her music continues to live on.

At last night Billboard Latin Music Awards, the late Queen of Tejano took home the award of “Female Artist of The Year.” The Mexican-American singer was nominated in the category along with Ana Gabriel, Jenni Rivera, who died in a tragic plane crash in 2012, and Thalia.

However, Selena wasn't the only artist to win an award posthumously on Thursday night. The late Juan Gabriel earned five awards including the Artist of the Year, Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Male and Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year, Solo, as well as Top Latin Album of the Year and Latin Pop Album of the Year for his album "Los Dúo 2." The legendary Mexican singer, who was known for his romantic ballads, passed away last August from a heart attack.
