Demi Lovato Calls TIME Magazine 'Hypocrites' for Naming Trump Person Of The Year Runner-Up

TIME just published their world-famous Person of the Year issue and their choice for the ultimate title and cover image was both striking and inspiring. The magazine chose six women who they’ve labeled “The Silence Breakers,” those who have shared their #MeToo stories with the world, which includes stars Ashley Judd and Taylor Swift (one woman is only partially visible to represent those who feel unable to come forward).

While this seems like a perfect choice, singer Demi Lovato is calling the publication out for including President Donald Trump, who has been accused of sexual assault by many women, on the list of honorees. The magazine named him Runner Up.

The “Sorry, Not Sorry” singer Tweeted, “I've become less vocal about my distain for certain people over the past year because it only divides our country even more but this is worth speaking up about. @TIME mag - very disappointed in your hypocrisy and disrespect toward the women on your cover. To be named POTY by @TIME it should be for doing something positive or brave LIKE the women on the cover. It's annoying that it's just about impact on the news.

TIME hasn't responded to Demi, but in an interview with Today editor Edward Felsenthal said of the decision, "He's No. 2 on our list because he's changed the very nature of the presidency and the way the White House functions. He's on the verge of his first major legislative victory, he's reshaping the judiciary and [he's] aggressively rolling back regulations."
