En serio: There’s a lot we miss about our Catholic school days.

We wish it were socially acceptable to slip on a plaid skirt, some knee-high socks, and a beat-up pair of penny loafers every single day. We miss schoolwide morning prayers, the unwavering belief in the power of community, and the hilarious moments we shared with the Sisters and Brothers who taught us. And, let’s be real, no matter how long it’s been since we went to mass, we will always remember the words to El Padre Nuestro.

Here are 20  Latino celebs who also walked the halls of an escuela católica:

Alexis Bledel:

Argentina Alexis Bledel admitted that she was exposed to a variety of religions when she was a child. “I went to a Baptist school, a Lutheran school, a Catholic school, and we lived in a Jewish neighborhood,” the actress stated. Bledel, however, attended a Catholic high school -- St. Agnes Academy in Houston, Texas.

Camilla Belle: 

This Brazilian beauty was raised in a Catholic household. Although she attended a parochial non-affiliated high school, Camilla Belle got her start at St. Paul’s Catholic Elementary School in Los Angeles, California.

Martin Sheen:

The son of  Spanish and Irish immigrants, Sheen was raised Catholic in Dayton, Ohio. “My mother had family rosary most nights in the house,” he said, “I loved the church and the faith.” The actor attended and graduated from Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School.

Sonia Sotomayor: 

The first Hispanic justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Sotomayor was raised in the Bronx of New York City. The boricua was raised devoutly Catholic, and graduated valedvictorian from Blessed Sacrament School before entering Princeton University on a full scholarship and later Yale Law School.

Jordana Brewster: Convent of the Sacred Heart

Brazilian actress Jordana Brewster boasts an impressive resumé. The Dallas star graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in English. The beautiful Latina started her academic career at Convent of the Sacred Heart, a Roman-Catholic all-girls school, in Manhattan.

Sofia Vergara:

The Modern Family actress was born and raised in a strict Catholic household. While the actress doesn’t take her religion as seriously as her family, she grew up in the Catholic school system of Colombia, and attended Marymount International School of Barranquilla.

Believe it or not: JLO spent her entire academic career at Catholic schools in the Bronx! She attended Holy Family Catholic School and Preston High School, where she excelled at gymnastics, track, and softball.

The hunky telenovela star didn’t always plan to be an actor. The cubano enrolled at ST. Thomas University, a Roman Catholic university in Miami, where he studied business administration on a baseball scholarship.

Salma Hayek: 

Salma Hayek was raised in a wealthy, devout Catholic family. When she was twelve, her Mexican parents sent her across the border to study at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls Catholic school in Grand Coteau, Louisiana.

Gloria Estefan: Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami

After her family fled Cuba and settled in Miami, Florida, Estefan enrolled at St. Michael-Archangel School and Our Lady of Lourdest Academy, an all-girls Roman Catholic school.

Laz Alonso is intelligent and talented! The former Wall Street investment banker graduated from Howard University with a BBA in Marketing, but he got his academic start at all-boys Catholic high school St. John’s College in Washington D.C.

Although he eventually transferred to Mission Viejo High School to pursue his football career, New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez originally attended Santa Margarita High School, where he spent the two years of high school.

Victor Cruz: Paterson Catholic High School

Salsa-dancing hunk Victor Cruz was raised by his Puerto Rican mother in Paterson, New Jersey. He attended Patterson Catholic High School, where he played wide receiver and defensive back for the football team and captured the New Jersey Parochial Group I championship.

Aubrey Plaza: 

Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Puerto Rican actress Aubrey Plaza attended Catholic all-girls school Ursuline Academy. Plaza’s excellent high school education eventually earned her a spot at NYU, where she earned her B.A. in 2006.

Benicio Del Toro was born and raised in a Catholic family in Miramar, Puerto Rico. There, he attended Academia del Perpetuo Soccoro. When he moved to Pennsylvania at the age of 12, he enrolled at a non-denominational private institution.

This cubana was raised in Tampa, Florida where she attended Tampa Catholic High School. The gorgeous actress was even awarded Homecoming Queen during her days in high school!

Although he eventually transferred schools, Carmelo Anthony spent the first three years of his high school career at Towson Catholic High School, a Roman Catholic institution just outside of Baltimore, Maryland.

Raised in Margate, Florida, Cannavale’s family was devoutly Catholic. The Nurse Jackie star attended St. Michael’s Catholic School, where he served as an altar boy and a member of the chorus.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star famously graduated from Harvard University in 2002. But, the Latina actress started her impressive academic career at Marymount High School, an all-girls Catholic school in Bel Air, California.

It probably comes as no surprise that colombiana Shakira was raised in a Catholic family. The singer attended La Enseñanza de Barranquilla, a traditional Catholic school taught my nuns.
