Jelena is over, again. Many people were quick to assume that Selena Gomez’s mom had something to do with the split. Throughout their relationship, Mandy Teefy has made it clear that she does not approve of her daughter getting back together with on-and-off boyfriend Justin Bieber. However, a source close to the ex-couple is saying that Teefy was a non-factor in their break-up.

“They’re not on a break because of her relationship with her mom. They have their own issues and are always on and off,” the source said to People. “She wouldn’t base her relationship off of what her mom thinks.”

In an interview earlier this year, Teefey admitted she was “not happy” about the rekindled romance, but added that “Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy.”

In December, another source told People that the “Wolves" singer and her mom were estranged, for reasons that have nothing to do with Bieber. “Mandy and Selena have had their ups and downs before. This isn’t the first time,” said the source.

“They weren’t getting along and decided to take a break,” a source close to Bieber previously told People. “It doesn’t seem like a big deal and they will probably be fine soon again.”

The original People source also said, “They’ve been having disagreements, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they’re back together in a week.”
