EXCLUSIVE: Adrienne Bailon Talks 'I'm in Love with a Church Girl'

"God's timing is perfect timing," Adrienne Bailon told us about the release of her new film I'm in Love with a Church Girl.

The 29-year-old belleza stars as "church girl" Vanessa Leon in this movie which shares the powerful, inspiring story of a love between a man and a woman; the gift of second chances; and a family that never stops praying and believing.

We sat down with Adrienne to get the scoop on I'm in Love with a Church Girl and her plans for 2014.

What sort of connection did you have to your character Vanessa?

I think I have a really similar experience to her, because yes I am a church girl, I grew up in the church. But at the same time, even with my current boyfriend, we had a lot of conversations that we have in this movie. I would tell Galley [Molina] how it was so funny that the first birthday I ever spent with my boyfriend was very similar to Miles’ [played by Ja Rule] birthday scene. And I was like, are you watching me? Are you big brothering me? So those kinds of conversations about church and faith were just very relatable.

Vanessa is this down for her man type of girl.

Yes! I am that girl. I like to call myself a ride or die, but at the same time I’m like, where are we riding to and why I gotta die? [Laughs]

What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever been given?

The best relationship advice I’ve ever gotten, this is really funny but I swear it’s the one that applies most to me: Pick your battles wisely. I learned that from my mother. A lot of times, my boyfriend would do these small things and I would pick these huge fights like well we shouldn’t be together! And I’ve learned that if this really isn’t something I’m going to break up with you over then, why ruin the day?
