Latina contributor Angie Martinez landed the first radio interview with Chris Brown yesterday on New York hip-hop station Hot 97 and immediately let him know how angry and disappointed she was when she found out about his now infamous abuse of ex-girlfriend and pop star Rihanna.

In response, Brown said, “At the end of the day, I’m human," he said. "Of course you’re gonna have your thoughts and opinions. I’m not gonna say they’re wrong. But at the end of the day, it’s not right to judge someone. People make mistakes all the time.”

Martinez was the first DJ to ever play Chris Brown's debut single "Run It!" and she obviously struggled with whether or not to forgive the young singer for his transgressions. As for Brown's regret, "I’m sorry for what I did," he said. "Only me and shorty know what went down in the car, it’s between us. There are always problems in relationships and it's how we handle them that shapes us and makes us better," he added.

Martinez gave Brown a relatively unique opportunity to tell his side of the story and address everything, from his beef with Oprah (not smart, Chris) to the bow-tied debacle that was his Larry King interview. We kept waiting for him to say something that would make us forgive him or conjure up even the tiniest amount of sympathy, but nope! We still think he's pretty much a total jerk!
