While you might recognize her for her role as inmate Zirconia on Orange is the New Black, what you might not know is that Daniella de Jesus is also a poet.
The actress, who has been starring on the Netflix series since 2016, recently recited a personal poem about her own experience growing up in Bushwick, New York, and witnessing the gentrification of her hometown.
“We played baseball in open lots. A tiny piece of broken land. A small square of grass. The only green we had was jacked and sold,” de Jesus passionately says.
