Disney Channel made the announcement today and says the decision comes after Elena's notable premiere, which garnered over 24 million viewers in total. "It's just a few weeks into the launch of Elena of Avalor and we are already seeing what an impact and connection she is making with kids and families," Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide, said in a statement. "We're eager to make sure that we will have many new stories of bravery, adventure and leadership for our audience to enjoy and are delighted to begin production on our second season and continue to find ways for her story to be heard both on and off screen."
Created by Craig Gerber, who is behind Sofia the First, Elena of Avalor features the voice talents of Aimee Carrero (Elena), Jenna Ortega (Isabel), Jillian Rose Reed (Naomi), Jorge Diaz (Gabe), Constance Marie (Dona Paloma), Tyler Posey (Prince Alonso) and Ana Ortiz (Rafa), among others.
Along with the second season announcement, Elena also made her debut at Walt Disney World today. She will make her way to Disneyland Resort this fall.
