'Fashion Star' Recap: The Showstoppers Have Arrived!

NBC

Earlier today, we introduced you chicas to Fashion Star contestant Johana Hernandez. And tonight we caught a glimpse at Johana's competitive side as we tuned into the season two premiere of Fashion Star.

This season the show presented viewers with a dramatic twist, the buyers make on-the-spot decisions to purchase and carry the designs in their stores, while also making them available immediately after the broadcast both online and in select stores the very next day. Another change up to the show this season is celebrity mentors Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos are now hand-picking their own teams.

On tonight's season premiere, we found out which mentors' team Johana Hernandez landed on. And Johana is on...drumroll please! Team Nicole Richie. Go, Latinas! The challenge for these 12 Fashion Star competitors tonight was all about creating showstopping pieces. The contestants worked diligently to create beautiful, standout, stowstopper pieces to impress the judges.

After a runway show for the buyers and mentors presenting their showstopping pieces, Johana's tulip dress received bids from Express ($50,000) and Macy's ($55,000), with Macy's becoming the official retailer for Johana's piece. You can purchase Johana's dress on Macy's website tonight.

Stay tuned for more of Johana's designs in next week's Fashion Star episode! And who went home on tonight's first season two episode? Fashion Star bid farewell to Bret Young

Which contestant are you rooting for this season? Who's designs were your favorite tonight? Did you like Johana Hernandez's tulip dress?
