A Firefly special aired on November 11 on Science Channel, in celebration of the 10th anniversary. Gina Torres, who played Zoe in Joss Whedon's short-lived series, took part in a roundtable discussion and interviews with several cast members, and admitted she wished the show had lasted longer.
"We thought if we could get the audience more excited, and they'd tell 17 million of their best friends..." Gina Torres told Zap2It.com. That didn't happen, but the cult following that the show had (and an afterlife with the feature film Serenity and comic books) continued the show's legacy.
Others knew the show was up to be canceled. "We were on the chopping block from the get-go," recalls Adam Baldwin. "So we all knew we had to make the best show we could because we didn't know how long we were going to be around."
