When a 4-Month Old Boy Was Given a Head-Shaping Helmet, His Family Did the Most Supportive Thing

When 4-month old San Antonio native, Jonas Gutierrez, was prescribed a head-shaping helmet to help correct his case of plagiocephaly (or flat head syndrome), his family didn’t want him to feel alone. Spurred by the suggestion of Jonas’s 3-year-old sister, Camila, the whole clan started wearing helmets too.

"She's like, 'Hey! I have a helmet too, and daddy has a helmet,'" Jonas’s mom Shayna Gutierrez, 31, recalled of Camila’s stroke-of-genius idea for ABC News. "So she just got excited and went and dug them all out.”

When a cousin tweeted a photo of the headgear clad fam, it went viral, racking up more than 20,000 likes and 5,000 retweets.

Jonas will have to wear the helmet for three to six months, but, thanks to his incredibly supportive family, it doesn’t seem to faze him.

"Now it's just our normal Saturday routine," Shayna Gutierrez also told ABC News. "He doesn't mind it at all. He's adjusting great."
