10 Steps to a Sexy Bedroom

Blanche Garcia, interior designer for Travel Channel’s Hotel Impossible and star of HGTV’s Design Star, knows a thing or two about creating a sexy bedroom. Thankfully, she's given us the full scoop. Isn’t it time to take your bedroom up a notch?

1. Bedroom: Sheets

Garcia recommends using 600 Egyptian cotton sheets (these are super-soft!). Whites or creams feel clean and relaxing, says Garcia. We love these ones from Jennifer Lopez for Kohl’s.

2. Bedroom: lightbulbs

Change out the bulbs in all the light fixtures to 25 watt light bulbs or pink bulbs. “Pink bulbs by the bed will cast a sexy glow onto the bed, so everything looks soft and beautiful,” says Garcia.

3. Bedroom: vanity

Have the room and looking to add a piece of furniture to the mix? A ladies makeup and dressing table brings back a forgotten era when women powdered their noses and used crystal perfume bottles.

4. Bedroom: Silk Panels

Ceiling to floor silk window panels will not only look silky but swish around in the most alluring way when the wind blows.

5. Bedroom: frames

Black and white photos of the couple are always classic and personal, says Garcia. Try different frame sizes for a chic touch. (Going for good feng shui? Try wooden frames, which represent vitality.)

6. bedroom: robes

Always have silk robes readily available for lounging on the bed or getting out of the tub. C’mon, what is sexier than silk?

7. bedroom: rug

Plush area rugs on the side of the bed feel great when you have to slip out of bed on a chilly night.

8. bedroom: candles

Candles and oil diffusers are always a “go to” must when getting the ambiance right where you need it, says Garcia. “You can alter your mood with scent easier than any of the other senses.”

9. bedroom: ipod

Cue the mood music with an IPod and docking station. Bow chicka wow wow.

Fresh flowers next to the nightstand make the room feel fresh and special, like every day is an event, says Garcia.
