Technically, iconic activist Dolores Huerta’s 80th birthday was in April, but she is celebrating in style this Friday, August 13, at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles with an epic concert featuring some of her closest friends. Titled Weaving Moments Together, the benefit concert will unify the progressive social movements Ms. Huerta has championed throughout her extraordinary life, such as human rights for women, immigrant workers, and the gay community. It will also raise funds for the Dolores Huerta Foundation to support its ongoing work inspiring and motivating people to organize toward a better future.
The night will feature performances by Huerta’s close friends, including Carlos Santana, Pete Escovedo, Lila Downs, and Zack de la Rocha, and will be co-hosted by several celebrities including Martin Sheen, Ed Begley Jr., and Benjamin Bratt. Ms. Huerta will even get a special video birthday wish by President Obama!
