A New York City nanny accused of murder of two children she was caring for has been officially charged with murder.
The Dominican nanny, Yoselyn Ortega, had reportedly stabbed 6-year-old Lucia Krim and 2-year-old Leo Krim on the night of October 25, while the mother, Marina Krim, was out with a third child, reports Fox News Latino. When Marina Krim returned, she found their bodies in a bathtub with Ortega lying on the bathroom floor with stab wounds to her neck. A knife was located near her body.
The father, CNBC digital media executive Kevin Krim, had been on a business trip the night of the killings.
Ortega had recovered enough from her wounds to be interviewed by police on Saturday in her hospital bed at the New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. After, she was formally charged wtih two counts each of first-degree and second-degree murder.
Some of Ortega's friends and family said she had been struggling both emotionally and financially, but that the thought of her committing such an act was unbelievable.
It is unknown whether Ortega has a lawyer.
