As we say goodbye to another wild, weird, and sometimes wonderful year, Latina reflects on the biggest musical moments of 2024 and all the brilliant work created by Latina musicians worldwide this year—and there was a lot of it.

Women like Karol G, Kali Uchis, and Young Miko continued to push the boundaries of Latin music, carrying it even more prominently into the mainstream, and we saw epic collaborations among Latinas through hits by Shakira with Cardi B, Tokischa with Nathy Peluso, and more. And these familiar faces aren’t the only stars we saw: Fresh talent emerged, too, with the rise of Colombia’s Ela Taubert, Mexico’s Yeri Mua, Cuba’s Daymé Arocena, and many more of the names on this list. 

Without further ado, join Latina as we unveil the 20 best songs of 2024 by Latinas, exploring how each artist reshaped music and defined a different aspect of an extraordinary year through their work.

20. La Guru, “Perra Melancólica”

La Guru got the break of a lifetime when Karol G invited her to perform on “The Juanpis Live Show” in April. The rising Colombian artist, who’s breathed new life into traditional Latin genres with an alternative edge, sang her breakthrough hit “Perra Melancólica” alongside La Bichota. With her bewitching banger—which became an anthem about the struggle of overcoming a toxic relationship—La Guru indicates her resolve to reshape Latin music with dark emotional depth.

19. Bellakath, “Vaquero” Remix with La Dinastia, El Malilla, and El Bogueto

La Dinastia brought together the new leaders of the reggaeton Mexa movement on a remix of “Vaquero.” Bellakath, who scored the first global hit in the scene with 2022’s “Gatita,” jumped on the track with El Malilla and El Bogueto. In an otherwise all-men collaboration, Bellakath held it down for women in reggaeton Mexa, stealing the show with her fierce and flirty verses. 

18. Goyo, “Cuando Te Vi”

Though Goyo is known as a core member of ChocQuibTown, she is continuing to establish herself as a solo star. Following the 2022 release of her debut album En Letra de Otro, the Colombian singer and rapper has released a string of fiery and feel-good singles. In the alluring “Cuando Te Vi,” Goyo displayed a more seductive and soulful side to La Pantera. 

17. Elena Rose & Maria Becerra, “Pa’ Qué Volviste?”

After writing hits for artists like Selena Gomez, Christina Aguilera, Becky G, and Maria Becerra, Elena Rose is becoming a Latina pop star in her own right. The Venezuelan-American singer teamed up with Becerra for the cumbia-infused collaboration “Pa’ Qué Volviste?” In this girl-power anthem, both women sing about an ex attempting to enter back into their lives—and how they plan to kick him to the curb.

16. Jessie Reyez, “Just Like That” with Ari Lennox

Jessie Reyez spent the past year releasing stellar collaborations. The Colombian-Canadian star teamed up with Lil Wayne for “Ridin” and then joined forces with Big Sean on “Shut Up.” Two of the best voices in R&B today collided when Ari Lennox joined Reyez on the captivating “Just Like That.” Tossing elements of bolero into the recipe, Reyez uses imaginative and refreshing methods to blend her worlds.

15. Danna, “Platonik”

Danna made a big career move this year when she dropped her last name from her stage name. The Mexican pop star also released her most personal album “Childstar,” which included the standout “Platonik,” a sultry song in which Danna opens up about having a crush on another woman. As she reclaims her narrative, Danna’s star continues to rise as the voice of Elphaba in the Spanish-language dub of the “Wicked” movie.

14. Anitta, “Aceita”

After solidifying her mainstream crossover with 2022’s “Versions of Me,” Anitta used her platform to put a spotlight on the gritty sounds of Brazil with this year’s Funk Generation album. A standout on the LP: the empowering “Aceita,” which blends Brazilian funk with elements of EDM. Anitta is not afraid to push buttons with the song’s music video, which celebrated the traditions of her Afro-Brazilian faith Candomblé. 

13. RaiNao, “Roadhead” with Tainy

After generating buzz for the past few years as an alternative voice in reggaeton, RaiNao released her debut album “Capicú” in February. The rising Puerto Rican star linked up with a pioneer of the genre for the standout track “Roadhead,” an R&B-infused reggaeton ode to hooking up in the car produced by certified hit-maker Tainy. Even better: The steamy music video celebrated LGBTQ+ romance, showing the openly queer singer getting intimate with men and women.

12. Belinda & Kenia Os, “Jackpot”

For the first time in her career, Belinda teamed up with another female Mexican artist. The Spanish-Mexican icon joined forces with Kenia Os for the dreamy “Jackpot.” After releasing corridos like “Cactus” and “300 Noches” featuring Natanael Cano, Belinda returned to pop with a refreshing house music edge. In this hypnotic collaboration, Belinda and Kenia Os sang about how being with them would be like winning big on a slot machine. 

11. Becky G & Delilah, “Todo”

Becky G teamed up with a rising star in música Mexicana for the most genre-bending moment on Encuentros. The Mexican-American star enlisted Delilah, the first woman to sign on Natanael Cano’s Los CT label, for the soaring “Todo.” Becky G beautifully blended her pop spin on música Mexicana with the rock-infused sound that Delilah is bringing to the genre. Hearing these two Chicanas come together on the same song was everything. 

10. Daymé Arocena, “Por Ti” 

After making her mark in jazz, Daymé Arocena now aims for domination in the pop star realm. The Cuban star moved to Puerto Rico where she worked on her latest album “Alkemi” with former Calle 13 member Eduardo Cabra. Arocena masterfully melded her worlds in the Caribbean with R&B, jazz, and pop throughout the LP, especially in the commanding “Por Ti.” In 2023, she told Latina, “This is the beginning of a new moment in my career and I am doing as much as I can to make this pop.”

9. The Marías, “Lejos De Ti”

Throughout 2024, The Marías continued their seamless navigation between indie pop and Latin music while bridging those worlds within the band’s music. Their second album “Submarine” was inspired by lead singer María Zardoya and fellow founding member Josh Conway breaking up. Zardoya tapped into her Puerto Rican roots to sing in Spanish about being haunted by the memory of an ex in “Lejos De Ti,” seeing The Marías channel a difficult time into an ethereal and vulnerable gem.

8. Ela Taubert, “¿Cómo Pasó?” with Joe Jonas

Ela Taubert got a big boost in her career when Karol G invited her to open her concerts in Bogotá. After that breakthrough, the Colombian singer-songwriter gained a massive following with her breakup anthem “¿Cómo Pasó?” Joe Jonas later came out as a fan of Taubert when he joined her on a Spanglish version of the global hit. In November, she proved to be the future of Latin pop by winning Best New Artist at the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards. 

7. Yeri Mua, “Traka” 

Yeri Mua spent 2024 making the jump from beauty influencer to a leader of the reggaeton Mexa movement. After signing with Sony in June, the rising Mexican star hit back at her haters with the defiant “Traka.” Known for speaking her mind on social media, Mua unleashed a fierce and in-your-face anthem about her triumphs that keep people talking. And the chatter is far from stopping: In early December, TikTok revealed that she was the number-one artist globally on the platform in 2024. 

6. Young Miko & Villano Antillano, “Madre”

After spending the past few years becoming a leading LGBTQ+ voice in reggaeton, Young Miko released her debut album att. in April 2024. The Puerto Rican rapper paid tribute to the Ballroom scene with “Madre,” which interpolated the house anthem “Pump Up the Jam” by Technotronic. Young Miko upped the queer and femme power of this empowering anthem with fellow Boricua Villano Antillano in the mix.

5. Tokischa & Nathy Peluso, “De Maravisha”

Two of the Latinas who are changing the game in the music joined forces. Tokischa teamed up with Nathy Peluso for the genre-bending banger “De Maravisha.” At first, Tokischa and Peluso trade hard-hitting bars about being bosses over trap beats. The women then let their hair down at the halfway point when reggaeton rhythms take over, colliding the Dominican Republic and Argentina by way of New York City in a fresh new girl-power anthem. 

4. Lismar, “BZRP Music Sessions #60” with Bizarrap

Lismar made her debut this year in the biggest way possible. The rising Dominican rapper was tapped by Argentine producer Bizarrap for his “BZRP Music Sessions #60.” Lismar wrapped her versatile and fierce rap flow around Bizarrap’s trap, EDM, and Jersey club beats with ease. Her explosive bars couldn’t be contained to one song, so the duo also released the fiery “Subió La Temperatura” on the same day. Lismar’s takeover of Latin hip-hop is just getting started. 

3. Shakira & Cardi B, “Puntería”

Following a heartbreaking, high-profile split in 2022, Shakira returned with a vengeance with her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” album, proving that the “She Wolf” is back on the prowl with her single “Puntería,” a sexy and vibrant bop that saw the Colombian pop icon team up with Dominican-American rapper Cardi B Together, Shakira and Cardi hit a bullseye with their synth-pop ode to a lover that hits all the right spots.

2. Karol G, “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”

After becoming the top woman in reggaeton, Karol G is also showing that she’s a Latina pop queen, with the Colombian superstar taking a detour from the genre that she’s known for in the sunny “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido.” Karol G explored merengue rhythms for the first time while singing about not giving up on romance, turning forlorn hypotheticals of what if into a certified tropical smash which reaffirmed that her success is not limited to one genre.

1. Kali Uchis, “Igual Que Un Ángel” with Peso Pluma

After making her mark in Latin music with “Telepatía” in 2020, Kali Uchis once again stuck the perfect balance between her two worlds with “Igual Que Un Ángel,” wherein the Colombian-American star sings in Spanglish about an angelic lover in the disco-infused banger. A pleasant and welcome surprise: the addition of Mexican singer Peso Pluma, whose raspy vocals add a sensual side to the song. Through this dazzling collaboration—which has played nonstop in my headphones, for the record—Uchis and Peso Pluma proved to be a dream team and, while we can’t wait to see what each does next on their own, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that these two will partner up again soon.

The first major Latin music award show took place last night with the 2024 Premio Lo Nuestro. The big winner of the night was Colombian superstar Karol G with nine awards. Though she wasn’t in attendance, Latin stars Don Omar, Anitta, Grupo Frontera, Carin León, and others delivered memorable performances with surprise guests like Machine Gun Kelly and Kane Brown. Here’s six of our favorite moments from the all-star event.

Don Omar Revisits His Classics With Machine Gun Kelly and Anitta

Don Omar was honored with the Global Icon award for being a reggaeton music pioneer. The Puerto Rican legend received the award from Anitta, Wisin y Yandel, and Machine Gun Kelly. “You and I are from different worlds, but your music brought us together tonight,” Machine Gun Kelly told Don Omar. Don Omar then performed a medley of his greatest hits, including “Salió El Sol” with Anitta and “Sandunga” with Wisin y Yandel. Machine Gun Kelly then pulled out his guitar to perform an electrifying version of “Danza Kuduro” with him.

Carin León and Kane Brown’s Country Music Crossover

Carin León is proving that regional Mexican music isn’t all that different from country music. The Mexican superstar teamed up with country star Kane Brown to perform their new single “The One (Pero No Como Yo).” León and Brown’s crossover collaboration seamlessly blended both their worlds of music as they delivered heartfelt performances. León won four Premio Lo Nuestro awards, including two for his genre-bending collaboration “Según Quién” with Maluma.

Grupo Frontera’s Powerhouse Performance with Arcángel

There was a strong regional Mexican music presence at Premio Lo Nuestro last night. Another standout crossover took place with Grupo Frontera’s heartfelt performance. The Mexican-American group performed the emotional track “ALV” with reggaeton icon Arcángel. The voice of Adelaido “Payo” Solís III, who is the lead singer of Grupo Frontera, soared as he belted the band’s baby-come-back anthem “Quédate Bebé.” When Maluma opened the show, he also sang a pair of regional Mexican songs including “Bling Bling.” Later, Natti Natasha performed her Mexican-inspired track “Ya No Te Extraño.”

Anitta’s Fierce Medley Featuring Bad Gyal

Anitta performed a captivating medley of her recent hits. The Brazilian superstar opened her set with her freaky reggaeton banger “Bellakeo.” Mexican singer Peso Pluma didn’t join her to sing the song, but his raspy vocals could still be heard. Rising Spanish artist Bad Gyal then emerged to sing “Bota Niña” live for the first time with Anitta. Both women grinded on each other during the playful performance. Anitta then proudly represented Brazil with her alluring song “Mil Veces,” which embraces her country’s melodic funk sound.

Camilo and Evaluna Montaner’s Pregnancy Reveal

Camilo and his wife Evaluna Montaner are one of Latin music’s most beloved couples. In 2022, Camilo and Evaluna, who is the daughter of Ricardo Montaner, became parents with the birth of their first child Índigo. During the adorable performance of their salsa-infused track “Plis,” they revealed that a second child is on the way. Camilo proudly kissed Evaluna’s baby bump. On Instagram, they announced that the baby’s name will be Amaranto.

Emilia and Tini Share a Kiss

Emilia is on a mission to bring Latin pop music back to the forefront. The Argentine star hit the Premio Lo Nuestro stage with a medley of hits from her album “.MP3.” First, she performed “No_Se_Ve.mp3,” which blends EDM and Brazilian funk music. Emilia gave a shout-out to her collaborator, Brazilian artist Ludmilla. Fellow Argentine singer Tini then joined Emilia onstage for a fierce performance of “La_Original.mp3,” which culminated with them sharing a friendly kiss.

The Coachella 2024 lineup was unveiled last night, showcasing a diverse array of Latin acts from around the globe and across different genres. This spring’s music festival will feature performances by renowned artists such as Peso Pluma, Ice Spice, J Balvin, Young Miko, Bizarrap, and more.

Notably, Bad Bunny made history as the first Latin headliner at Coachella last year, delivering a hits-filled set with special guests like Grupo Frontera, José Feliciano, and Post Malone. However, this year’s headliners include Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and Doja Cat, with no specific Latin headliner. Nevertheless, a multitude of Latin artists will grace the Coachella stage on the weekends of April 12 and 19.

Returning to Coachella is Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin, known for his vibrant 2019 performance in the desert. Argentine producer Bizarrap, the mastermind behind Shakira’s “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” is also set to take the stage. There’s anticipation for a possible performance of his latest work, “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 58,” with Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko, who is part of the lineup as well. Bringing us to Brazil, Ludmilla will proudly showcase the growing genre of Brazilian funk.

This year introduces several Mexican acts making their Coachella debuts, including R&B singer Girl Ultra, indie pop trio Latin Mafia, and emerging folk star Kevin Kaarl. Peso Pluma, who played a pivotal role in popularizing música Mexicana globally last year, will deliver his own set after joining Becky G’s last year. Mexican crooner Carín León will also represent música Mexicana at the festival.

After having an incredible year as an emerging artist, Dominican-American rapper, Ice Spice will also hit the stage. Mexican lyricist Santa Fe Klan will be representing the rap scene as well and singer Eddie Zuko, known for his reggae-infused Spanglish tunes, is set to make an appearance too. Infusing the scene with his Afro-Caribean grooves will be Cuban singer-songwriter Cimafunk.

Additional unique Latin acts on the lineup include the instrumental stylings of Hermanos Gutiérrez and the alternative cumbia of Son Rompe Pera. With such a vibrant mix, Coachella 2024 promises an exciting showcase of Latin talent.

17. Conexión Divina and Gabito Ballesteros, “Paso a Pasito”

Breaking barriers in the male-dominated regional Mexican music scene, Conexión Divina represents the voice of women. After a notable performance at Coachella, the all-girl sierreño group released their debut album, “Tres Mundos,” featuring the fiery standout track “Paso a Pasito” with Mexican singer Gabito Ballesteros. The song harmonizes on withstanding life’s challenges.

16. Bad Gyal, Young Miko, and Tokischa, “Chulo, Pt. 2”

12. Melanie Martinez, “Death”

After reinventing herself from her “Crybaby” persona, Melanie Martinez emerges as one of the top alternative acts of the year. The singer-songwriter of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent returns with the twisted track “Death” from her “Portals” album. Martinez has a knack for delivering dark messages, such as a eulogy for who she used to be, in bright and biting pop songs like this.

11. Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj, “Princess Diana” Remix

Ice Spice, one of this year’s breakout stars, pushes the drill music scene forward with her debut EP “Like..?” In the fierce banger “Princess Diana,” she flaunts her baddie swagger and receives a powerful co-sign from Trinidadian icon Nicki Minaj. Ice Spice’s nomination for Best New Artist at the 2024 Grammy Awards solidifies her impact.

10. Yahritza y Su Esencia and Grupo Frontera, “Frágil”

Yahritza Martinez of Yahritza y Su Esencia is a trailblazer for women in regional Mexican music. The Colombian icon turns heartbreak into a cathartic anthem in collaboration with Argentine producer Bizarrap on “BZRP Music Sessions #53.” This globally impactful session sees Shakira cleverly addressing her ex, Gerard Piqué, and his alleged infidelity. Her empowering lyric, “Women don’t cry anymore, women get paid,” encapsulates her current state of empowerment. Shakira unleashes her inner “She Wolf” once again, delivering one of pop’s most savage takedowns.

“This is a nasty era,” she tells LATINA. “It’s about being unapologetic and very comfortable with myself. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. This past year, I’ve felt like I’ve grown and it’s been about overcoming the obstacles.”

After breaking through with Don Omar’s “Dutty Love” over a decade ago, Natasha has positioned herself as one of the top female artists in reggaeton. In May 2021, she gave birth to her first child, Vida Isabelle, with Pina. A year later, Pina was sentenced to serve 41 months in prison following an illegal firearms conviction. Natasha continued to raise their baby while releasing hits, including the fiery “Mayor Que Usted” featuring reggaeton icons Daddy Yankee and Wisin y Yandel.

“Through everything that has happened, I feel like I’ve learned a lot about my career, myself and the things I can overcome by myself,” she says. “Once you take a bad situation and make it a good one, so many good things can come out of that. I make sure that I have the best attitude ever. It could always be worse and it’s not. We’re healthy and we have everything in life that we could want.”

Now Natasha is compiling her recent hits and new songs in the “Nasty Singles” album. She defines what “nasty” means to her: “It’s the extreme of each person, feeling and the adjectives that describe them. For example, when a woman is super beautiful, she’s nasty beautiful.” Natasha finds power in the word, especially in the tigress anthem “Kokorota,” which she dedicates to her daughter.

“She’s a baby, but I definitely want her to be [a ‘Kokorota’] when she grows up,” Natasha says. “When I’m doing my makeup, she wears makeup. She loves lipstick. She takes the microphone and sings. She dances a lot. I really make it my business to let her have fun and be creative around me.”

In her album, Natasha also embraces the sexual connotation of being “nasty.” In the dembow-infused “To’ Esto Es Tuyo,” she sings about giving herself completely to the man that she loves. Natasha also teamed up with fellow Dominican star Tokischa for the freaky reggaeton romp “No Pare.” The risqué music video drew criticism from sexist people with backward thoughts about motherhood and sexuality.

“I haven’t cared about what anybody has said,” she says. “You could be nasty beautiful. You could be nasty sexy. You can be anything you want. It doesn’t matter if you’re a mother or not. I feel more beautiful now. I feel more empowered. I feel like my best self now after becoming a mother.”

Though the album is personal to her, Natasha adds that “Nasty Nat” is also an alter-ego. “Each song is a character,” she says. “It’s like being an actress in a song. Like Julia Roberts plays a prostitute in “Pretty Woman” but in real life she’s not a prostitute.”

Natasha also reclaims the word “b**ch” in Spanish in the perreo-ready “Tu Perrota.” She previously did that in 2018 with Becky G in “Sin Pijama” when she sang, “I have always been a lady, but I’m a b**ch in bed.” In addition to uplifting women, Natasha’s bold songs have also become anthems for the LGBTQ+ community, which she acknowledges.

“When I talk about overcoming obstacles, I’m talking about for everybody,” Natasha says. “I’m talking about freedom as well now that everyone can express themselves and who they are even more. I’ve always been very outspoken about the things that I want to express and say. With [‘Tu Perrota,’] I want to see everyone in heels and with makeup. I want to see everyone’s vibe.”

With this album, Natasha is taking risks by pushing reggaeton to new places. She seamlessly blends Afrobeats in her post-breakup banger “Otro Caption.” Natasha then mixes elements of música Mexicana in the brassy kiss-off track “Ya No Te Extraño.” The personal evolution she experienced this past year is also manifesting itself in her music.

“Art is art, so I feel like you just have to play with it and not take it so seriously,” she says. “I feel like I’m going to connect with people differently. I want my fans to connect with a nasty feeling of their own through these songs.”

J Noa name-checks Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. as she spits rhymes about her breakthrough year. “I wrote this song talking about me, who I am, my achievements as an artist,” she told LATINA. “This single represents a shift in my career because I speak on things I haven’t dared to touch on before.”

BIBI and Becky G, “Amigos”

Two cultures collide in BIBI’s new single “Amigos.” The K-Pop singer teamed up with Mexican-American pop star Becky G. In the reggaeton-infused track, BIBI and Becky G sing together about getting involved in forbidden romances. In addition to singing in Korean and English, BIBI also joins Becky G in the alluring chorus in Spanish. “A blend of cultures, the track further proves music’s ability to transcend borders,” Becky G said in a statement. “I’m so excited for our fans to experience the crossroads of our creativity that creates an infectious beat that so many will enjoy.”

Nicki Nicole and Bad Gyal, “Enamórate”

Following the release of her post-breakup album “Alma” earlier this year, Nicki Nicole is living her best life. The Argentine pop star teamed up with Spanish rapper Bad Gyal for her new single “Enamórate.” The seductive collaboration straddles the line between dancehall and reggaeton music. Both women sing about making men fall in love with them on the dance floor. Speaking of sparks flying, Nicole recently went public with her relationship with Peso Pluma on the Latin Grammy Awards red carpet.

Joel Deleōn, “Reggaetón Viejo”

After leaving CNCO two years ago, Joel Deleōn has found his footing as a solo artist. The Mexican-American star is keeping the new music coming with his latest single “Reggaetón Viejo.” Deleōn pays tribute to classic perreo while putting a refreshing pop twist on the genre. He references Wisin y Yandel’s “Llamé Pa’ Verte” in the sexy reggaeton romp. “It’s the perfect song to grab your girl or man and meterle al perreo,” he told LATINA. The song will be included on his debut EP that is due out before the end of the year.

Matisse and Ha*Ash, “Blanca Navidad”

Mexican group Matisse is getting into the Christmas spirit with a new EP. The holiday EP “Una Navidad Con Matisse” includes a dreamy duet with fellow Mexican duo Ha*Ash. The two acts cover the song “White Christmas” in Spanish as “Blanca Navidad.” The EP also includes Matisse’s enchanting version of the Wham! classic “Last Christmas” with Melissa Robles singing lead. “We have wanted to make this EP since 2019,” Matisse shared in a statement. “We love Christmas like nothing else in the world.”

Cami, “Ganadora”

Chilean alternative artist Cami is back with her new EP. In the introspective “Los Amantes Vol. 1,” she explores dabbles in elements of electronic music for the first time. The EP includes five songs, including the triumphant “Ganadora” and the funky “Piernas De Agua.” The music video features Cami performing all the songs in the wilderness of southern Chile. “For a long time, I’ve wanted to record in the middle of nature, because it’s a place where I feel comfortable and where my creativity reaches a virtuoso level,” she told LATINA.

Kany García, “Una Buena Vida”

Kany García shined at the Latin Grammy Awards with her performance of “La Siguiente” featuring Mexican star Christian Nodal. Now the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter has released her new single “Una Buena Vida.” García embraces elements of cumbia music as she sings about finding the silver lining. On the message behind her feel-good song she told LATINA, “It is a gift for my people that despite the difficult moments in life, they have learned to live it in a good way.”

Rauw Alejandro, “Diluvio”

Rauw Alejandro shined at the Latin Grammy Awards when he performed a heartfelt cover of Laura Pausini’s “Se Fue.” The Puerto Rican superstar has also gone viral on TikTok thanks to the song “Diluvio” from his latest album “Playa Saturno.” In the freaky reggaeton banger, Alejandro sings about causing a flood in the bedroom. To celebrate the track’s success, he dropped a hot-and-heavy music video for it. “It’s been a while since I did a [TikTok] challenge or anything like that,” he shared in a statement. “TikTok is about enjoying life your way.”

The biggest stars in Latin music came together last night for the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards. The top winners included Colombian superstars Shakira and Karol G while acts like Peso Pluma, Feid, and Rauw Alejandro delivered memorable performances. Here’s five of our favorite moments from the all-star event, which took place in Seville, Spain.

Karol G Makes History

Karol G took home three Latin Grammy awards last night. The Colombian superstar made history when she became the first woman to win Best Urban Music Album for “Mañana Será Bonito.” Karol G later triumphed in the top category when she also won Album of the Year. With tears in her eyes, she said in Spanish, “It’s an honor to receive this award in front of many people who I admire and honor in music.” Karol G shared her third win with Shakira for Best Urban Fusion/Performance category for their collaboration “TQG.”

Shakira’s Two Incredible Performances

Shakira also took home three Latin Grammy awards last night. The Colombian pop icon won Song of the Year and Best Pop Song for her kiss-off anthem “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with Bizarrap. Shakira also graced the event with two performances. First, she sang her heartfelt ballad “Acróstico” with her sons, Sasha and Milan. She later tore up the stage with a fierce performance of “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53” during Bizarrap’s set. While accepting one of her awards, Shakira hinted that she will tour again soon.

Eslabon Armado & Peso Pluma Finally Perform Together

Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma proudly represented música Mexicana at this year’s Latin Grammy Awards. For the first time in a televised performance, the Mexican-American group joined forces with Peso Pluma to sing “Ella Baila Sola.” It was worth the wait with Eslabon Armado’s lead singer Pedro Tovar and Peso Pluma both giving a fiery rendition of the global hit. For being the sole writer of the sierreño track, Tovar was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Regional Mexican Song.

Rauw Alejandro Wears His Heart on His Sleeve

While paying tribute to the Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year, Rauw Alejandro appeared to hint at his own personal heartbreak. The Puerto Rican superstar opened his performance with a poignant cover of “Se Fue” by Italian singer Laura Pausini. In the middle of a ring of fire, Alejandro’s voice soared as he sang about a romance that had run its course. Back in July, Alejandro and Spanish pop star Rosalía ended their engagement. He then followed that up with his dance tracks “No Me Sueltes” and “Baby Hello.”

Feid and DJ Premier Bring Hip-Hop to the Awards

Feid closed out the show with a vibrant performance. The Colombian superstar opened his green-tinted set with an acoustic version of his love song “Prohibidox.” After singing a few lyrics from the track, he was joined by hip-hop producer DJ Premier to perform their collaboration “Le Pido a Dios.” Feid showed off his slick rap flow as DJ Premier played the swaggering track. Feid’s rumored girlfriend Karol G was spotted singing along in the front row. Feid and DJ Premier added the legacy of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary with the Spanish-language banger.
