This week’s list features new music from Dominican star Tokischa and the debuts of Medellín’s Ryan Castro and Puerto Rico’s Paopao.

Also on the list: Anitta releases her “Gata” music video, Carlos Zaur duets with fellow Monterrey native Sofía Reyes, and Kenia OS supports the LGBTQ+ community. Plus, FUFU makes waves as a nonbinary artist, and Álvaro Díaz releases a Scott Pilgrim-inspired bop.

Tokischa and Eladio Carrión, “Hola”

Tokischa is back with a new single. The Dominican star teamed up with Eladio Carrión in her music video for “Hola.” While known for her dembow bangers, she embraces trap music with the Puerto Rican rapper. Tokischa lyrically cuts Carrión down to size as she discovers he’s been with other women. Their phone call ends with the sound of hanging up as Tokischa no longer has the time to deal with that mess. The music video has a small interlude of dembow music to remind people of the genre where Tokischa reigns supreme. Tokischa was one of our favorite performers at Ceremonia Festival in Mexico City last spring.

Anitta and Chencho Corleone, “Gata”

Anitta is starting the rollout for the deluxe edition of her “Versions of Me” album. The Brazilian superstar released the music video for “Gata” featuring Puerto Rican icon Chencho Corleone. While Corleone doesn’t appear in the fierce visual, Anitta previews her upcoming fragrance brand Puzzy. “The ‘Gata’ video was more for the fans,” she told LATINA.

Over the next two weeks, she will drop the music videos for “Lobby” featuring Missy Elliott and “El Que Espera” with Maluma. “I love Maluma!” she said. “We’ve been together so many times. I like working with him. It’s like being with someone that you’re just very intimate [with].” Anitta also talked about the Missy collaboration. “Missy was a big surprise!” she added. “She’s like wow! A queen! Such a humble person. I loved it.” As for who she wants to work with next, Anitta said a song with Rosalía would be “incredible” and that Lil Nas X has “a vibe that’s super similar to mine.”

Kenia OS, “Todo My Love”

A few weeks after collaborating with CNCO on “Plutón,” Kenia OS is back with a new single and music video of her own. “Todo My Love” is a sweet love song with a slight Spanglish twist. OS shows her support for the LGBTQ+ community by featuring same-sex couples as the stars of the super cute clip. She spreads the love far and wide with this feel-good Latin pop bop. OS released her debut album “Cambios De Luna” earlier this year and it broke the record for the most first-day streams on Spotify in Mexico. OS recently was spotted with Mexican pop icon Thalía, so it will be interesting to see what they have been cooking soon.

Ryan Castro, “REGGAETONEA”

Ryan Castro is part of the new wave of reggaeton artists emerging from Medellín. “Representing Medellín in Latin music feels muy chimba, so beautiful,” Castro told LATINA. “[This is] on behalf of all those young people who leave los barrios to work every day with the dream of making it in music. I really feel very happy to be supported by my people.” The Colombian singer is making his debut with his new EP, “REGGAETONEA.” The EP features his hit “Mujeriego” (which he claims is not about him but a friend).

Castro also teams up with fellow Colombian acts, including Farina in the sexy “Prende y Apaga” and Blessd in the dreamy “Niña De Mis Sueños.” Castro shows off a sultrier side to his artistry with the alluring banger “Amor De Una Noche.” He adds, “The message of the EP is to convey to people that the reggaeton that Ryan Castro is making comes from los barrios de los ghettos, as I say, and from young people who get ahead thanks to music. The essence of this EP is to bring forward el reggaeton de barrio.” His BC Management Presents Ryan Castro Tour returns to the U.S. on August 11 in L.A.

Paopao, “Diamantes y Espinas”

Puerto Rican singer Paopao is making her debut with her first EP “Diamantes y Espinas.” She’s the first woman to sign with the reggaeton music label RichMusic. Paopao is turning the genre on its head with alternative and grunge influences. There’s an industrial edge to the trap anthem “Como Siempre.” In “Ea Diache,” she teamed up with Puerto Rican R&B singer Dalex for their hot-and-heavy bedroom banger. There’s an alluring touch to their duet with the sleek production. “This project is special because it is personal and one where I tell my story on my terms and in my own words,” Paopao tells LATINA .”I’m excited for fans to see another layer of Paopao and experience what I’m truly capable of doing through music.”

FUFU, “Compl1cado”

FUFU is making waves in Latin trap music as a nonbinary artist. The rising rapper and singer hails from Atlanta, Georgia, while their parents have roots in Mexico and Costa Rica. FUFU describes their style of music as “Trap Awake,” which “awakens consciousness and invites you to explore a higher level of understanding and connection with the planet, humanity, and yourself.”

That otherworldly sound comes through in their new single “Compl1cado.” Backed by atmospheric trap beats, FUFU raps about getting caught up in a complicated romance. “‘Compl1cado’ is an important track for me,” FUFU told LATINA. “I have reached a point in my life where I feel that before I didn’t take relationships as seriously, and now [I] have a higher level of maturity and experienced that emotional attachment, that codependency. This is one of those songs that asks that person not to throw away that codependency because I would lose myself.”

Álvaro Díaz, “Ramona Flowers”

Álvaro Díaz is continuing to give reggaeton music an alternative edge. The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter tackles dreamy synth-pop with his new single “Ramona Flowers.” As the title suggests, the rock-infused love song is inspired by the character from Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World. The track was produced by Lara Project, who helped artists like Bad Bunny, Kali Uchis, and Rauw Alejandro find their alternative sounds. Díaz sings about a romance that feels out-of-this-world like the “Scott Pilgrim” story. He continues the storyline of the movie in his music video. “We’re going to keep pushing the genre,” Díaz told LATINA. He described his upcoming album “Sayonara” as a “different vibe” from last year’s “Felicilandia” LP.

Carlos Zaur and Sofía Reyes, “Duele Tanto”

Carlos Zaur is making his debut alongside Mexican pop star Sofía Reyes. He teamed up with Reyes for his new single “Duele Tanto.” This track marks the first time Reyes tackles a bolero, and the result is beautiful. Zaur and Reyes wrote the heartbreaking ballad with 13-time Academy Award nominee Diane Warren and the song’s producer Thom Bridges. Zaur and Reyes both hail from Monterrey, so this stunning duet is a proud moment for their city. “Duele Tanto” previews Zaur’s upcoming debut album. Reyes returned this year with her album “Mal De Amores.” She is currently the female Latin artist with the most videos posted on TikTok this year, thanks to the resurgence of her hit “1, 2, 3” featuring Jason Derulo and De La Ghetto.

Also on the list: CNCO’s duet with Kenia OS and new music from Netflix’s “Rebelde” reboot. Plus, Natan & Shander’s proudly Colombian collaboration and Bizarrap with the biggest song in the world right now.

Selena, “Como Te Quiero Yo a Ti”

The first taste of new music from Selena is here. “Como Te Quiero Yo a Ti” is the first single from the late Mexican-American icon’s upcoming album “MOONCHILD Mixes.” The LP was executive produced by her father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., featuring songs recorded when Selena was 13 to 16. To give these recordings an updated sound, Selena’s brother AB Quintanilla III used the latest studio technology to rework them. “Como Te Quiero Yo a Ti” sounds like a dream soundtracked by a mariachi band. The awe in Selena’s voice is stunning as she sings about a romance that feels otherworldly. Long live the Queen of Tejano music!

Rico Nasty, “Las Ruinas”

Rico Nasty is continuing to keep hip-hop fresh with her out-of-the-box perspective. The Baltimore native of Puerto Rican descent recently released her new mixtape “Las Ruinas.” Across the 17-track set, she embraces more of an electronic edge. In the psychedelic “Skullflower,” Rico Nasty adapts a baby-like voice as she flexes her lavish lifestyle. “You throwin’ a tantrum, I sleep in a mansion,” she muses. Nasty teams up with EDM producer Marshmello for the standout “Watch Your Man.” Rico Nasty blends his synth-heavy sound with drum-and-bass beats while keeping her naysayers in check. “Got these haters mad again,” she spits. In the booming “Blow Me,” Rico Nasty adds, “FOMO, you don’t want to miss this.” This moody mixtape definitely shouldn’t be slept on. Rico Nasty keeps on bringing the heat.

Yuridia and Banda MS, “¿Y Qué Tal Si Funciona?”

Yuridia is continuing to embrace her Mexican roots in her music. Her upcoming album “Pa Luego Es Tarde” will be her first all-regional Mexican music release. Ex-Calibre 50 member Eden Muñoz served as the musical director of the LP. For her newest single, “¿Y Qué Tal Si Funciona?,” Yuridia teamed up with top-selling Mexican act Banda MS. Backed by mariachi music, she trades verses with singers Oswaldo Silva and Alan Ramirez, musing about embracing a blossoming romance. Through their heartfelt performances, they spread love with this captivating collaboration. Yuridia will tour the U.S. this fall with her Pa Luego Es Tarde Tour.

Selene and Alejandro Puente, “Te Perdí”

Netflix’s reboot of “Rebelde” is officially back for a second season. Across eight new episodes, the cast tackles songs by Bad Bunny, Danna Paola, Becky G, and Natti Natasha. There are also a few original songs, and the best one on the soundtrack is “Te Perdí.” It’s a duet between Mexican singer Selene’s character Andi and Alejandro Puente’s Sebas. In the beautiful acoustic ballad, Selene and Puente sing about the heartbreak of missing their loved ones. The lingering sting of loss is tangible in their soaring vocals. Puente has a close relationship with ex-RBD member Alfonso Herrera from the original “Rebelde” series. “He’s someone that I love,” Puente told LATINA. “He’s a friend. It was important for me to have his blessing as well, so having it, I was very excited to do [the reboot].”

Natan & Shander, Totoy El Frio, Feid and Ryan Castro, “VIP”

The new generation of artists from Medellín have united for a stellar song. Natan & Shander teamed up with Feid, Ryan Castro, and Totoy El Frio for their new single “VIP.” Previously, Natan & Shander and Totoy El Frio received co-signs from J Balvin and Karol G in the “Poblado” remix. Now the trio is joining forces with their peers for this hypnotic and sexy club banger. Feid opens the track with his alluring voice and Castro later closes it out with his sultry flow. The Avengers of Medellín come through with a knockout collaboration. “It’s like a new movement,” Feid previously told LATINA. “It’s been like something reciprocal. Everyone is blowing up. I feel so happy for the genre of Colombia because it keeps growing and it’s been in the spotlight since J Balvin, Maluma, and Karol broke through.”

Bizarrap and Quevedo, “BZRP Music Sessions #52”

Bizarrap is continuing to have the best year of his career — yet. The Argentine producer teamed up with Spanish singer Quevedo for “BZRP Music Sessions #52.” The electro-pop track with a trap music edge has become a global smash hit. This past week, the song debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Global 200 chart. Since being released on July 6, Bizarrap’s latest has remained at the top of Spotify’s Top 50 Global songs chart. Quevedo’s deep voice makes the yearning in his lyrics feel more tangible. Bizarrap works his magic to turn this sad boy love song into a haunting club banger. Earlier this year, Bizarrap scored another hit with “BZRP Music Sessions #49,” Residente’s diss track to J Balvin.

Rauw Alejandro, Lyanno and Brray, “Lokera”

A few days after appearing in Tainy’s song “Sci-Fi,” Rauw Alejandro released some new music of his own. The Puerto Rican superstar is teasing his next album with “Lokera.” For the electronic perreo banger, Alejandro teamed up with Boricua rapper Brray and Lyanno, his longtime collaborator and friend. Alejandro and Lyanno remain a dream duo, their alluring vocals making this collaboration all the more irresistible. Brray gives this track a street edge with his laid-back flow. Alejandro will continue to rule the dance floor with “Lokera” in his arsenal. “Rauw is my brother from another mother,” Lyanno told LATINA. “We dreamed of this together, and with everything that’s happening becoming reality, I’m really happy for him.”

CNCO and Kenia OS, “Plutón”

CNCO shocked the world last week when the band announced its intention to split up. Members Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Zabdiel De Jesús, and Christopher Vélez plan to go their separate ways after working together for the next year and a half. Until then, CNCO is continuing to release new music. The quartet teamed up with Kenias OS for the Latin pop bop “Plutón.” Since releasing her debut album “Cambios de Luna” earlier this year, OS has become one of Mexico’s top pop stars. Backed by snappy beats, CNCO and OS trade verses about a romance that feels out-of-this-world. CNCO and OS are a dream team with this breezy and heavenly love song.

This week’s list features the emergence of Mexican-American singer Doris Anahi and the return of Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin. There are plenty of all-star collaborations with Sebastián Yatra and Pablo Alborán as well as Camilo and Nicki Nicole.

Also on the list are Young Miko’s debut EP and Tainy and Rauw Alejandro’s stellar jam. Plus, Mexican-American indie acts Alaina Castillo and Omar Apollo dropped new tunes.

Doris Anahi, “Aprendiendo Por Las Malas”

Doris Anahi released her highly-anticipated debut EP “Aprendiendo Por Las Malas.” Though Anahi is new as an artist, she has years of experience in the industry as an artist manager and a proponent of Latinx music in L.A. From the style of her music and her Spanglish, Anahi always proudly represents being a Chicana Angeleno in her songs. She first teased the EP with the beautiful bolero “Que Sufras.” With her follow-up single, “It Wasn’t You,” Anahi gave the bolero a fresh R&B twist. The latest single, “Aprendiendo Por Las Malas” is a hypnotic ode to the hard knocks of love and life. The Disney Original documentary “Mija” that tells Anahi’s life story will be released to select theaters on August 5.

Ricky Martin, “Play”

Ricky Martin is back with his new EP “Play.” While the Puerto Rican superstar originally intended for the EP to be filled with club bangers, instead he came through with more sensual love songs. “Puerto Rico was mainly the inspiration,” he told LATINA. Discussing his homeland’s influence, Martin added, “It was a need to go back to the purity of the beginning. La poesia de la calle is there. It’s present. It’s pulsating. I was really in touch with nature. Obviously the island vibe.” The EP features the seriously sexy “Ácido Sabor” that Martin co-wrote with Súbelo NEO, the production duo behind many of Bad Bunny’s hits. However, Martin is still a smooth operator in the funky “Paris in Love” and the frisky “Amordio.” His irresistible EP is meant to be played in the bedroom.

Young Miko, “Trap Kitty”

Young Miko has emerged as a queer voice in Latin rap music. After garnering plenty of buzz around her music in Puerto Rico, she has released her debut EP “Trap Kitty.” Young Miko first made waves from Añasco, Puerto Rico, with her breakout song “105 Freestyle.” The EP includes her swaggering hit “Standard” and the hip-hop banger “Riri.” She embraces her queer identity in the hypnotic trap track “Bi” featuring Brray and reflects on going viral on TikTok with the fiery “Trending.” Throughout the EP, Young Miko masterfully blends classic hip-hop beats with her refreshing and rapid rap flow. The “Trap Kitty” is out of the bag and ready to take on the world.

Sebastián Yatra and Pablo Alborán, “Contigo”

Heartthrobs unite! Colombia’s Sebastián Yatra and Spain’s Pablo Alborán collaborated on the former’s new single “Contigo.” Both of their voices soar as they sing about fleeting romances and reminisce about old memories. The heartbreaking ballad reaches heavenly heights with these pop princes’ passionate performances. The music video is from a street performance of “Contigo” that Yatra and Alborán filmed in Spain. Earlier this year, Yatra released his “Dharma” album. Next month, the Dharma Tour kicks off in the U.S. Alborán will also be touring the U.S. with his Gira de Teatros Tour in November.

Camilo and Nicki Nicole, “Naturaleza”

Camilo continues the roll-out for his upcoming album “De Adentro Pa Afuera.” The Colombian star partnered with his wife Evaluna Montaner for an ode to their child, “Índigo,” and with Spanish icon Alejandro Sanz for “NASA.” Now, Camilo is joining forces with Argentine singer and rapper Nicki Nicole for the empowering Latin pop anthem “Naturaleza.” Camilo and Nicole trade verses about embracing who you are despite the naysayers. “After many meetings, we decided that ‘Naturaleza’ had a very powerful message we wanted to share with everyone,” Nicole told LATINA. Concerning the blending of their musical styles, she added, “We finished putting it together, each with our taste. We are happy with the result. Hopefully, everyone will enjoy and identify with it as much as we do.”

Tainy and Rauw Alejandro, “Sci-Fi”

Puerto Rican hit-maker Tainy is back with his new single “Sci-Fi,” produced with fellow Boricua superstar Rauw Alejandro. With the single, Tainy has come through with an out-of-this-world club banger. Backed by funky beats with galactic synths, Alejandro sings about being wrapped up in an otherworldly romance. His slick vocals and performance give Tainy’s track an irresistible edge. The knockout collaboration will be on Tainy’s upcoming album “DATA.” Last year, Tainy scored a global smash with “Lo Siento BB:/” featuring Bad Bunny and Julieta Venegas. He’s produced hits for Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Jhay Cortez, Kali Uchis, and many other of today’s Latin music stars.

Alaina Castillo, “Call Me When You’re Lonely”

This past year Alaina Castillo has broken through. The Mexican-American singer performed at the Coachella Music Festival in April, and the following month, she opened for Coldplay in her hometown of Houston. That month she also returned with “Sad Girls Always Finish First.” Castillo keeps the sad girl vibes coming with her new single, “Call Me When You’re Lonely.” She blends synth-pop music with a soulful twist and sings about wanting an old flame back. Castillo commands the hypnotic track with her alluring voice. “‘Call Me When You’re Lonely’ is a song about missing someone and the way things used to be so much that you’re willing to do anything just to hear their voice or see their face one more time,” she told LATINA.

Omar Apollo, “Archetype”

Good news for Omar Apollo fans — he is releasing an expanded version of his debut album “Ivory” very soon. The Mexican-American singer will add five more songs to the LP to re-package it as “Marfil.” Apollo has also released one of the new songs called “Archetype.” He continues to blend R&B and funk music with a pop-rock edge, singing about finding his other half with a sexy and soulful performance. The alluring “Archetype” already has us wanting more new music from Apollo and his upcoming expanded LP “Marfil.” The original version features “Bad Life” with Kali Uchis. Apollo previously told LATINA, “That’s literally like my sister. She’s the best. We get along super well. She feels like family.”

This week’s list features a double dose of Anitta. The Brazilian superstar teamed up with Argentine singer TINI for “La Loto” and her boyfriend Murda Beatz for the star-studded “No Mas,” and Venezuelan singer Danny Ocean released one of the most beautiful love songs of the year.

Also on the list are Feid’s highly-anticipated “Normal,” Catalyna’s girl power anthem with Young Miko and Cory, and Carlos Rivera’s ode to Tlaxcala. And finally, Piso 21 joined forces with Manuel Turizo and Aitana’s dreamy “Formentera” with Nicki Nicole.

TINI, Becky G & Anitta, “La Loto”

TINI is turning up the heat on her music career. The rising Argentine pop star teamed up with Mexican-American pop princess Becky G and Brazilian superstar Anitta for her new single “La Loto.” Backed by a bouncy reggaeton beat, the three artists trade verses about how their lovers have hit the jackpot with them. “With me you have won the lotto,” Anitta boasts in Spanish. This trio of fierce Latinas makes this sexy bedroom banger irresistible. In Argentina, TINI has scored several hits this year, including the cumbia track “La Triple T” and “Carne y Hueso.” She also teamed up with Christina Aguilera this year for the collaboration “Suéltame.”

Murda Beatz, Anitta, J Balvin, Quavo & Pharrell, “No Mas”

Speaking of Anitta, the Brazilian superstar also teamed up with her boyfriend Murda Beatz for an all-star collaboration. The power couple recruited J Balvin, Migos’ Quavo, and Pharrell for “No Mas.” Murda Beatz truly has a beast of a banger on his hands. The tropical track blends elements of trap, hip-hop, reggaeton, and Latin sounds. The multicultural vibes are strong in this one as Anitta comes through with a fierce verse in English and Spanish. J Balvin also delivers a fiery guest verse while shouting out his son Rio. “It’s a record I’m excited about, bringing four different worlds together; America, Colombia, Brazil, and Canada,” Murda Beatz said in a statement. “And, of course, having the chance to work alongside a legendary producer like Pharrell is incredible. It’s just the perfect record for the summer,” he said

Aitana & Nicki Nicole, “Formentera”

Latin pop music is on the rebound. Spanish singer Aitana proudly embraces the feel-good genre with her recent hit “Formentera,” alongside Argentine rapper and singer Nicki Nicole. Nicole’s performance of the song at Ceremonia Festival in Mexico City this past spring was one of LATINA’s favorite moments. Since then, Aitana’s anthem has enjoyed continued success with over 33 million views on YouTube. Backed by disco-pop beats, Aitana sings about a romantic romp that she will never forget. “That memory of having you without clothes won’t let me sleep,” she sings in Spanish. Aitana’s beautiful mix of tenderness and sensuality makes this love song feel out of this world.

Danny Ocean, “Volare”

Danny Ocean has come through with one of his most tender tracks yet. The Venezuelan singer-songwriter released his new single “Volare” and is giving “date under the Eiffel Tower” vibes. Ocean’s heartfelt love song includes the sounds of an accordion and a ukulele, blended to perfection. Atop the gorgeous instrumental, he even incorporates a few words of Italian into the Spanish track. The “Me Rehúso” hit-maker masterfully captures the romance of Europe and gives it his edgy Latin touch. “The melody came from the chords of a ukulele and the lyrics were inspired by a conversation we had about long-distance relationships separated by oceans, specifically the Atlantic,” Ocean told LATINA, adding “I was inspired by a trip I did to Italy three years ago and it was incredible.”

Feid, “Normal”

Feid is in the best year of his career right now. The Medellín native has recently collaborated with fellow Colombian stars like Karol G and Maluma while scoring his own hits. After six months of teasing the song “Normal,” Feid finally released it to his fans—and it was well worth the wait. Backed by a hypnotic reggaeton beat, he sings about a heartbreak that lingers on his mind. “I gave you 100, and you gave me 50 / I was sleeping with you, and you were sleeping with someone else,” he sings in Spanish. His distinct and emotive vocals make “Normal” feel supernatural. Feid finds solace on the dance floor and comes through with another perreo sentimental banger.

Piso 21 & Manuel Turizo, “Los Cachos”

Colombian acts unite! Pop group Piso 21 teamed up with Manuel Turizo for their new single “Los Cachos.” Backed by reggaeton beats with a pop twist, both acts sing about getting caught up in a hot-and-heavy romance. You can always count on Piso 21 for a sensual and feel-good romantic track, and the guys come through with just that. Turizo perfectly rounds out the alluring love song with his sultry voice. Piso 21 adds another great single to their romance collection that includes previous hits like “Déjala Que Vuelva,” which also featured Turizo, and “Me Llamas.” Turizo recently dropped his song “La Bachata” and is gearing up to release his next album, “2000.”

Catalyna, Young Miko & Cory, “Castigada”

In a girl power moment, Puerto Rican queens Young Miko and Cory joined forces for Catalyna’s new single “Castigada.” Backed by a hard-hitting reggaeton beat, the artists sing about wanting to have fun while sneaking away. Each woman gets a chance to shine on the alluring club anthem, especially Young Miko with her trippy guest verse. “[It’s about] a group of girls who run away to see that special person,” Catalyna told LATINA. “It is a concept that everyone can relate to. Almost all of us have taken on that mission at least once in our lives.” Catalyna is signed to Y Entertainment, the record label created by Puerto Rican reggaeton icon Yandel.

Carlos Rivera and Carlos Vives, “Te Soñé”

Mexico and Colombia are joining forces for Carlos Rivera’s new single “Te Soñé.” The Mexican heartthrob teamed up with Colombian icon Carlos Vives. The song blends musical inspiration from Rivera’s home state of Tlaxcala with vallenato music native to Vives’ country. “‘Te Soñé’ is a love song to my homeland,” Rivera told LATINA. “It is the best way to tell people who I am [and] what my roots are.” He doubles down on the representation with the music video for the magical collaboration. Rivera filmed the video in his city of Huamantla with Vives and the help of 500 local volunteers, showcasing the colorfulness and culture of Huamantla with his beautiful homage.

This week’s list features Dominican superstar Natti Natasha’s dream reggaeton collaboration and Javiera Mena’s LGBTQ+ Pride Month anthem.

Also on the list, Mon Laferte’s adventures in a “Supermercado,” Ana Macho’s magical EP and Ana Mena’s club banger with Belinda. Plus, Colombian singer Llane drops his debut album, Mexican artists Ramón Vega and Maciel team up for “Escorpión” and Dímelo Flow dreams big with his LP.

Natti Natasha, Daddy Yankee & Wisin y Yandel, “Mayor Que Usted”

Natti Natasha is back with the heaviest hitters in reggaeton music. In “Mayor Que Usted,” the Dominican superstar teams up with Puerto Rican pioneers Daddy Yankee and Wisin y Yandel. The song opens with a nod to Wisin y Yandel’s classic “Ahora Es” before exploding into a bachatón banger. Natasha sings about getting her life on the dance floor to perreo. Wisin y Yandel come through with their signature romantic and rough-around-the-edges flows. Towards the end, Daddy Yankee hops on the track and fires off a speedy and swaggering guest verse. With Daddy Yankee announcing his retirement this year and Wisin y Yandel splitting up soon, Natasha captures the essence of classic reggaeton with the OGs themselves. The song will be included on Natasha’s new EP that will be released next month.

Javiera Mena, “La Isla de Lesbos”

Javiera Mena invites listeners to “La Isla de Lesbos” in her new single. The Chilean musician and producer comes through with another synth-pop fantasy. Mena has always been open about identifying as lesbian in her music and she embraces that here. Mena is truly a queer icon, with her birthday — June 3 — falling perfectly within LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Fittingly, “La Isla de Lesbos” is the perfect song and music video to celebrate the queer occasion. “Love is love, así se dice,” she assures. “We wanted to present lesbians as a group of high quality professionals,” Mena told LATINA. “It’s something more real: a lesbian party where everyone knows each other.” The song will be included on Mena’s upcoming album “Nocturna.”

Mon Laferte, “Supermercado”

Mon Laferte is giving chaotic “Supermarket Sweep” vibes in her new music video. The Chilean singer-songwriter experiences a breakdown in “Supermercado” while shopping around a grocery store. In the breezy alternative rock track, Laferte compares strange things happening in the supermarket to a relationship that’s on the rocks. “I got mad at my partner at the supermarket and wrote the song while I was there,” she told LATINA. The music video encompasses that conflict beautifully as Laferte rages against the products in aisle three. Unfortunately, as we see in the end, she’s caught in the act. The song is included on her latest album “1940 Carmen.”

Ana Macho, “Realismo Mágico”

Ana Macho is breaking out with their new EP “Realismo Mágico.” The artist and comedian proudly represents their Caguas, Puerto Rico roots in their music. The non-binary pop star had a breakout moment last year when they teamed up with Boricua rapper Villano Antillano for the empowering “Muñeca.” In “Realismo Mágico,” Macho is continuing to celebrate their perseverance and power as a strong queer voice from Puerto Rico. That’s best exemplified in the EP’s lead single, “Pero Gané,” where they stay winning over disco-infused reggaeton beats. On the 8-track EP, Macho explores more sounds of the Caribbean. The stunning “Llueve” is a dazzling bolero with a tropical touch. In “Amiga,” they come through with a soothing and hypnotic ode to camaraderie. Macho’s second EP is truly magical.

Ana Mena and Belinda, “Las 12”

Spanish pop stars unite! Ana Mena teamed up with Belinda for her new single for “Las 12.” The two singers recently co-starred in the Netflix series “Bienvenidos a Edén” [“Welcome to Eden”]. For “Las 12,” Mena comes through with a beast of a club banger. Backed by neon synths, Mena and Belinda sing about partaking in a night of dance floor euphoria. Belinda brings a sultry edge to the dance track with her guest verses. When the summer sun goes down, Mena and Belinda are ready to take the night with this party anthem. Belinda recently returned to music this year with the release of her singles “Eden” and “Colorblind.”

Ramón Vega and Michelle Maciel, “Escorpión”

Ramón Vega continues to emerge as a multi-genre Latin pop star. The Mexican singer broke out last year with “Contigo Mami,” his regional take on Roy Orbison’s classic “Oh, Pretty Woman.” Vega later collaborated with Mexican rapper Gera MX in the breezy “Wiken.” For his new single “Escorpión,” he embraces synth-pop alongside rising Mexican singer Michelle Maciel. For this magical collaboration, Vega and Maciel trade heartfelt verses about turning up the heat with their lovers. These teens come through with a sleek dance track that exudes Mexican swagger. The cute music video for “Escorpión” pays homage to the luchador culture of Mexico. The song will be included on “PA TI :),” Vega’s upcoming debut album.

Llane, “Fino”

Llane is making his mark as a solo artist. The Colombian singer-songwriter released his hotly-anticipated debut album “Fino.” It’s been quite the journey for Llane, who departed the band Piso 21 in 2018. Across the 11-track LP, he puts a pop twist on multiple genres. For the song “Fino,” he teams up with Venezuelan artist Danny Ocean. They lay the love on thick with this alluring banger. In “Pensamientos Oscuros,” Llane comes through with a hot-and-heavy bedroom jam. With “Oveja Negra,” he joins forces with rapper Masego, who has roots in Jamaica, Cuba and South Africa. The resulting track is a world-class, swoon-worthy collaboration. “And to all the people that have followed me after all this time, this is for them,” Llane told LATINA.

Dímelo Flow, “Always Dream”

Dímelo Flow is the producer behind all of Sech’s biggest hits. Now, the Panamanian musician is breaking out with his debut album “Always Dream.” Across a whopping 23 tracks, Dímelo Flow teams up with all the heavy-hitters and rising stars in reggaeton music. In the alluring banger “Qué Me Contás,” Sech returns the favor alongside J Balvin, Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez. Dímelo Flow gets the party started with “Suelta,” which features icons Fatman Scoop and Mr. Vegas with Rauw Alejandro, Farruko and María Becerra. Another out-of-this-world collaboration is the sensual love song “Crazy” with Wisin, Ozuna, Arcángel, Tavárez and Jay Wheeler. Dímelo Flow assembles an incredible album that’s filled with the stuff that perreo dreams are made of.

Unexpectedly, his opponent in the final round of the election will be businessman Rodolfo Hernández, deemed “Colombia’s Trump,” by media outlets, instead of the predicted victor, conservative candidate Feredico Gutiérrez. Given that neither of the candidates received over 50% of the vote during the first round, Petro and Hernández will face off during a runoff election on June 19th.

If he wins, majority winner Petro, 62, would become Colombia’s first leftist leader. In his campaign, he has vowed to transform the country both socially and economically. As a teenager, Petro participated in the M-19 guerilla movement, a leftist urban militia that sought political power in the name of social justice during the 1970s. Since then, he served as mayor of Bogota from 2011 to 2015 and then senator. According to The New York Times, some critics fear Petro’s potential ascent to office, concerned that his policies, such as halting fuel exploration, could ruin the Colombian economy.

His unlikely contender is Rodolfo Hernández, 77. The wealthy businessman was mayor of Bucaramanga from 2016-2019 and has recently gained TikTok fame through videos of himself riding an electric scooter or spending time with his family on election day — some even call him the “king of TikTok.” Hernández in 2016 said he was a follower of Adolf Hitler, but later called this a lapse and explained that he meant Albert Einstein. He has vowed to dismantle corruption even if it means declaring a state of emergency, which could lead to the shutdown of Congress and the suspension of mayors.

On Sunday evening, following the election results, he tweeted, “The country of politiquería and corruption lost today, those who thought they would eternally be our government lost today, citizenship won today, Colombia won today.”

Although Hernández has spoken out strongly against corruption, the Colombian attorney general’s office is currently investigating him: allegedly, during his time as mayor of Bucaramanga, Hernández intervened in a trash collection tender so that a company his son lobbied for would benefit financially, reported Reuters.

Before this first round, the assumption for the Colombian election was that citizens would choose Federico Gutiérrez over Hernández as their conservative candidate.
